I think the move to wing enabled him to feel comfortable going deeper into the offensive zone instead of worrying about his defensive responsibilities as a center. You can tell he’s still working through it too; he will often be in the spot centers occupy in the defensive zone and then realize he needs to be more towards the boards where wingers usually are - this is more noticeable seeing the game live than on TV IMO. For the offensive zone, he’s just less passive and it’s starting to pay off for him. His passes are good. He takes the shot when he can. His speed is a work in progress. He can fly when he wants to, but that seems less common than I would like. It's good to see him suddenly scoring some points. I'd be lying if I said I've seen more than the highlights posted here, but I can't help but notice the scoring started right about the same time he was moved to wing. @Digitalbooya did that move spur him? Is his game more suited to the wing?
Which is why you go BPAI'm fine with him ending up on the wing, but if that's the case, I'll always find it hilarious that the only reason Guerin took him is because he's a big center, and it backfired on him.
BPA is still more of an art than a science.Which is why you go BPA

Right, but just based off of Brackett's comments post draft, it's pretty clear that the Wild didn't consider Stramel their BPA. It's one thing for us fans to disagree with the pick or compare it to who Bob McKenzie or others would have had there, it's another thing entirely for these professionals to go off their board for size and position.
I wish we had insight into where they had players ranked. We got a small dose of that with the Ohgren-Yurov draft.
Still better than trying to force a pick like thatBPA is still more of an art than a science.
This board is notorious for overreacting to everything lolJeez give the kid a break... didn't he lose his father 2 years ago? Big guys take longer to develop anyways. I hope he makes team USA WJC next year? Quit with the what have you done for me now latey-ism. Prospect trajecory is not linear. I'm Guessing 1 more year at Wisconson Anyways.

People aren't reacting to Stramel the way they are just to hate on him... they're reacting because he hasn't done enough to change opinions they've had on him since before the draft. The hate comes from BG drafting him where he did when there were other players people wanted who are also maintaining pre-draft opinions based on their performances. This board is notorious for overreacting to everything lol
I don't think it's "overreacting" as much as it is just "reacting", which is the point of this website. I also tend to notice that "overreacting" is never thrown around when sentiment is generally positive, only when it's negative.
Still, Stramel hasn't given us much positive to talk about yet, so it is what it is. I'm sure if he does, we'll talk about that too.
I say what I said as the guy who was #1 on the list of fans that thought we shouldn't pick Stramel at the draft.People aren't reacting to Stramel the way they are just to hate on him... they're reacting because he hasn't done enough to change opinions they've had on him since before the draft. I'm just saying, what's done is done. I'm willing to see if Stramel can prove the doubters wrong. Clean slate. It's not his fault Guerin and co picked him where they did. That should be more of a Bill Guerin thread topic. It's just irritating, for those that actually want to discuss the player and his progression, that we can't go a page without rehashing the same bullshit over and over again.
