Ok, good to hear. Hey, WI looks really good. If you get goaltending you might go pretty far this year.
Both McClellan and Gramme have looked pretty stellar. It's nice to have a dedicated goaltender coach (finally).
I love that assist. That's one that can translate to any level. Big, strong guys who drive the net still need some skill, but only enough to touch the puck, hard, and in the direction of the net.
Me too! He even starts the rush in the neutral zone and has the quick give and go with Vorlicky. That's a quality play. Would have liked to see him get more of a shot off, but the idea was great and the execution still resulted in a goal.

Might want to be patient.

Picking the top scorer (so far) of the draft 5th overall is amazing work. What Hughes has done being picked 7th overall is ... also good. Plenty of teams make the wrong choices in the top 10 and also later in the 1st. People love Dallas's drafting, for example, but Miro Heiskanen wasn't born last time they won the Cup.

If there was a scouting department that consistently found NHL players late in the draft, they wouldn't be in the hockey world, they'd be in the finance world making real money based on their ability to see the future.

Just going from 09-18 drafts
5 x top-10 picks:
-Good: EP, Hughes, Horvat
-Bad: Virtanen and Juolevi

Other 1sts:
-Good: Boeser, McCann
-Bad: Jensen, Schroeder, Shinkaruk, Gaunce.

This is a terrible draft record for 1st round picks. Miss on 2 of 5 top-10 picks; and 6 of 11 total 1st round picks.

5 Players with 100 games picked outside the 1st: Gaudette, Demko, Forsling, Hutton, Connauton.

I see 0 reason to give him any benefit of the doubt. MN's draft department; which got hell for being bad; during the same time frame only missed on 2 x 1st rounders (FJ and Phillips). 12 NHL players found after the 1st with at least 100 games played: Soucy, Greenway. Haula, Kemps, Zucker, Larrson, Seeler, Kahk, Kap, Duhaime, Dewar, McBain.

He wasn't the director until 2015, and the reason he left is because he had to fight his GM over certain picks. If I remember correctly, Juolevi was a Benning decision, not a Brackett one.

I see several posters are in a mood tonight.

It's a quality scoring chance play created by Stramel.
Stramel is playing college hockey. The bare minimum expectation is that something like that will occasionally happen.

I’m not saying it didn’t happen; I’m questioning the meaning/importance.

You're being "extra" about it for sure.

No worries though, I'll stop posting updates on what I think are quality plays. You win.

Please don´t. I enjoy it
We are on a prospect forum and he is providing homemade footage of our prospects making non-scoring plays. I love to see that and support anyone who would take the time for it!
I just don't understand the disdain for viewing that as a quality play. Is it a world beating play? No, and I didn't say or imply that it was. All I said was it was a play that you don't see when all you look at is the box score. It's a pass that connects in the high danger scoring area and results in a shot on goal. That's what you want from your players. If it connects then people are saying that's a pretty nice primary assist. It would have been better than any of the assists he had tonight.

Some extra notes:
- Stramel tied with 6 other players for second most shots on goal (3) for the game. Wisconsin is 100% a team that wins by committee. Bantle lead the way with 4 shots and 3 goals.
- Stramel was a team high +3. Wisconsin's top dawgs were not good tonight (Lucius -3, DSP -3, Silye -2)
- Stramel was for 2/3 in the limited faceoffs he took tonight

I feel like people forgot this, so I’m going to post it in here in hopes of some optimism for Stramel.

Matt Boldy halfway through his D+1 season:

17GP 1g 3a 4pts

He was playing center and they moved him to wing. Proceeded to explode for 22 points in the second half 17 games.

Stramel as a center: 7GP 0g 0a 0pts
Stramel as a wing: 5GP 1g 3a 4pts

He’s not going to be as good as Boldy. But *maybe* he can be a Boldy-lite.

Was watching for Stramel last night but have to say William Whitelaw was really the standout for me on the Badgers in that game at least.
Agreed, and there was another guy whose name i forgot who had really nice speed and puck control.

You're being "extra" about it for sure.

No way, your job is to keep us informed on Stramel. No folding at the first sign of adversity!
