A 1C? Thats too broad. The question is, does he return the kind of 1C that's worth the trade. If this is a venn diagram, the intersection of likelihood is extremely small, keeping in mind that it has to make sense for the other side too.

Matthews isn't on the table unfortunately but damn near anything else would be on the table to get him in a Leafs jersey although I know it'll never happen.

Not sure who has what you need...but why trade McAvoy?? I feel like you're shortening the window.

Just trade for or sign Elias Lindholm.

”McAvoy” would basically never be traded unless it’s a massive overpayment and it wouldn’t be for some quarters dimes and a nickel so no point discussing cause nobody is making that kind of deal without having holes on there team after..

I know Chychrun only makes 4.6m, but you look at that return and look at what kind of player McAvoy is and will be for the next 6-7 years or whatever it is.

Yeah I guess that's a fair point, durability problems at times for McAvoy too, Chychrun earns less.

The 2 teams are at different points though, Boston as far as I know is still trying to be competitive.

If he's part of a core that's meant to contend then I highly doubt he'd get moved (competent RHD are probably even harder to find than centers who can fill big minute roles). He and Pastrnak will probably be the centerpieces of the Bruins for years to come.

If he is available, the absolute minimum would probably be what Hronek got, and I say minimum because Yzerman sold high on Hronek but other teams also knew they weren't holding onto him, so a 1st and 2nd for him is probably a steal. With his long-term deal, he could probably ask for another top-6 C or top-4 D on top of that to balance out the cap and fill a roster hole. He won't score the most but would be valuable for filling a need in the lineup regardless.

Meh. I’d say a 1st, 2nd, a good prospect/or roster player.

I wouldn’t value him higher than say Dobson who would definitely cost an arm and a leg.

Canucks fans are weird about McAvoy. He has always been rated higher than Hughes until this season. Is that why the two low ball valuations in this thread are from Canucks fans? Or is there some other history I am
not aware of?

McAvoy has more valuable than Draisaitl so yes easily. Top 5 defensemen in the league in their prime signed to long term deals simply don't get traded. Especially a right handed one
The only case to be made that McAvoy has more value than Drai is because of their respective contract situations. Otherwise Drai is a much more valuable player.

Other than 2012 and Cam Neely? 🤷‍♂️
