He's always played his best hockey when paired with Grizz. Now he's got Lohrei (who's still a work in progress) and before that, Zadorov.

Not gonna make excuses for him.,....he needs to be better. But I don't think you can disregard that fact, either.

Maybe you are right, but he is too good a defenseman, to be playing like this and certainly being enough not to play like this. Lately I find him to be invisible, that not like him, I will say get him off the PP

Great players make average players better, average players don't make great players worse.

Fair enough ,but just watching him you can see his play has dropped off significantly

It would be one thing if it was just a bad stretch, but he has been their worst defenseman two playoffs in a row.

He’s just not the $9.5M #1 stud that they paid him to be. I wish they moved on from him before the rest of the league figured that out.

He was good with Mike Reilly and Hampus Lindholm as well. This is the first time I can remember wondering about his toolbox because the tools are certainly there and always have been. Those two Florida series have seemed to do some damage maybe. Ages 22-24 he had three top 10 Norris finishes and now just doesn't seem the same player. He's going into his prime though, so the book is not complete.

He's been looking like a #2 for quite awhile now. Probably doesn't have the offensive goods to fetch norris finalist votes. Oh well, i guess. not yet 27 which is nice

I hate to see him turning into Darnell Nurse, and I hope that the trend does not continue. He was paid more than he was worth last contract in hopes that he would arrive as a top 5 d man in the league, and it looked like he was on his way. He seems to have regressed.
Everything turned for the worse when the heart issues popped up as I remember it.

He's definitely looking like #2 this season. :baghead:

You know, I had forgotten completely about that. I wonder how that affects him mentally, if at all? Physically?

9.5M player should make though around him better and not need a specific partner to excel.

He's tried to be an assassin, put a target on his back and buckled under the retribution.

I never thought he deserved that contract and don't believe he will ever earn it! At least not with the Bruins.

He's always had that problem.

But he had a lot of help as he played a great deal with the perfection line. Once Bergy retired McAvoy's bad decision making became more obvious. And his plus/minus plummeted.

Other than one horrific shift in second where Zadarov was ready to cough up a lung they were beasts

McAvoy had a heck of a game

He was excellent against Leafs - very strong yesterday so let’s keep with Z and let them get chemistry

I get it Zadarov can struggle and I didn’t want him but I’m a fan he’s pretty skilled and tough as heck

Win today and start the climb

Two of those years he had Chara\Bergeron and the other two he had Bergeron.
He hasn't been as good the last year and thus year and those are without Bergeron.

He is clearly a #1D but other Dmen are moving past him like Faber.

Unfortunately, the equalizer is PHI is a sh*tty team. Chuck is playing well below common expectations. 9.5M is top 5 money, that included offensive impact (and his play has been offensive:sarcasm:)
He is nowhere close to being that guy. At times he hasn't even been average.

Maybe he wants to go home to NY. He certainly isn't playing like he wants to be here.
