Its the highlight of the month for sure. But no own goal defeats Phillip's in a stanley cup final.
Growing up every hockey player dreamed of scoring 'the' Cup winning goal in the SCF. To date there's just roughly a hundred people in history to be able to claim that. However there is only one player in hockey history who has scored a Cup winning own goal ... Chris Phillips ladies & gentlemen (credited to Travis Moen).

Actually I think this is 2nd worst after Laine’s, because at least Lindgren wasn’t literally trying to score on his own goal

Yeah this is the worst one I've ever seen and not even trying to shitpile on Laine, but you just know all he's thinking is "score goal" and just not even aware of anything else.

OP goalie clip is pretty horrible, but he was obviously trying to shoot it around the goal, not into it.

Laine legit finishes a sweet feed from the opposing team.

Not even the first time for the Caps in the past few years. Here’s Hagelin from long distance (I still suspect he was acting as a Pens secret agent).

Yeah, with the sportsbooks and gambling stuff, things like this should get investigated. If he had bet on Tampa 3.5+ team goals, that'd be one way to guarantee it.

After looking at this weird screenshot, I had a question pop into my head. How would an own goal be credited if the opponent never touched the puck beforehand?
I don't know either, but I suppose the circumstances would have to be right from an opening faceoff to start a game or period because I think otherwise the NHL would credit any opposing player with the last touch if it was mid-period.

I wonder if there even is an official rule since it would be such a rare edge case.
