He has drafted one top 6 forward in a decade full of drafts. A 1st pair defenseman, an entire 2nd pair and a front line goalie. That's "very" well?

Just don't bring up this years first pick who has 2 assists in college and went from projected top 6 forward to 4th liner playing four minutes. Don't dare question the establishment. Don't being up all the LHD drafted and how there are zero on the roster or all the centers they picked that don't actually play center anymore.

I liked that pick. Great up side a swing for the fences. He’s playing on a loaded college team full of soon to be NHLers, hopefully he pans out. Problem being is I’m sure he’s still growing into that frame of his and may take a little longer, than others, and of course he may never play a game in the NHL, but it sure would be nice to see him make it.

Great drafts can help build a dynasty, if you look back at the Habs oilers and Islanders. Or even hitting big in consecutive years or 3 in 4 can help lead you to a cup as the Bruins did from 03-06.

not sure how I forgot him. I think guys like Poitras and Lysell will be big contributors by next opening season latest.

Well those of you who want to bitch about them can bitch about them but it's pretty clear from this interview that Cam and Don aren't going anywhere. Not any time soon anyway.

The obvious riposte here is based on their sheer lack of high picks. If you look at the other teams who have also been pretty perennial playoff teams in the last 5-10 years - the likes of Tampa, Washington and Dallas - have they done any better in the draft? I don't think so.

If you're not in the first round, or at least high second, it's a very tough gig to land any winners. For all that, I would say that Sweeney's drafting could have been better, but it could also have been a lot worse. The problem hasn't so much been the GM, but what the Bruins continue to try to do in staying competitive year after year with only a very limited injection of good young talent. Very hard to do.

They don’t get that we are not a team built to compete and any lame deadline tinkering won’t change that.

Or, maybe they do get it, but don’t want to publicly admit it bc then Charlie might lose more money from hot dogs and beer sales.

I’m betting the former. I’m also betting they are ill-equipped to right the ship.

They’ve been whistling Dixie for years. It’s finally caught up to them.

But those basic expectations and oversight remain and he must operate within them. Were he to stray too far I'd wager he wouldn't last long.

They've been riding Chia coat tails for years. Now that well is drying up. Only ones left is Pasta and an aging March.
 
My hope would be JT Miller wants Boston and Vancouver would be ok with getting Lindholm back. Give them Carlo and we have our elite #1 C. If you don’t think he is elite check his stats. If your worried about the locker room crap a lot of people saying it is way over blown.

It's fine to question them, but wasn't Letourneau always going to be a bit of a project? Probably quite the jump going from dominating prep hockey to playing NCAA, I'd be worried if he doesn't show improvement the next two seasons though
