The Champions Hockey League draw has taken place.

- Olofsson and Skelleftea will take on EV Zug from Swizerland.

- Norlinder and Frolunda will take on HC Neman Grodno from Belarus.

- Ikonen and Ilves will take on Red Bull Munich from Germany.

The tournament will start Oct 6th/7th and return a week after that. Norlinder's team is among the favorites to win it all as they have won it before. Ikonen's team is in tough as Red Bull is also among the teams favored to win it all.

The schedule is out, I updated the op with the link.

10-6 Olofsson
10-6 Norlinder
10-7 Ikonen

2nd games

10-13 Ikonen
10-13 Olofsson
10-14 Norlinder

Reward for a long journey: Meet CHL newcomers Ilves Tampere

“Established in 1931, Ilves amassed 16 championships over 1936 - 1985, making them the second most successful team behind Tappara. Since then they have been competing in the 15-team-strong Liiga with mixed results. Over the last ten seasons they’ve narrowly avoided relegation twice, missed qualifying for the playoffs three times, and suffered four quarterfinal losses, the most recent in 2018/19. Their fourth place finish from this season is their highest since 1998.”

“With an average age just shy of 23 years, Ilves field one of the youngest teams in the Liiga.”

Munich take on newcomers Ilves Tampere

“Ilves are led by a skilled group of young players with good veteran support.”

“Qualifying for the CHL is a major reward for our entire club management and owners. Qualifying is a major step in our club’s development program. After a major ownership change in early 2017 we’ve a new, bright corporate strategy in place. It has been a long journey to get here and we are going to enjoy the ride while we’re here.”

So the Champions League is getting ready to start up this week, the only prospect we have is Norlinder and we don't know what's going on there since we don't know if/when he's coming over to camp. Frolunda plays on the 26th vs the Czech league team BK Mlada Boleslav.

Norlinder will be playing at 11AM Et in a Champions League game. The first of the group stage. So it will be Norlinder's first competitive game of the season.

Frolunda will take on Mlada Boleslav, a team from the Czech Republic.

Frolunda is in a group with Mlada Boleslav, ZSC Lions Zurich (Switzerland), and IFK Helsinki (Finland).

I know games were streamed live before on YouTube through the Champions League page. I'm not sure it'll be the case this year. I hope they will.

I can get a stream fairly easy but getting it straight from youtube would be even more convenient . Too bad there's no way I can watch it today though, even under the guise of doing some office work :( Stupid job taking away my precious sports watching time !

What a blast on the PP, he was like 10 feet from the goalie but he f***ing hammered it

if you are watching the game, there's our old friend on ZSC, Ghettoblaster is #10. I didn't realize he was playing until the replay after the Norlinder goal when the refs were talking, the showed Ghetto getting hit into the boards.

another blast of a shot but not as good as the 1st and so the goalie was able to save it. He uses the wrister more but when you have that big shot you might as well use it.

Then of course he shows the bad with the turnover there while skating the puck out of his end.

He certainly looks thicker this year.

Frolunda is playing their third group stage game at noon ET today. Norlinder at 2LD paired with Stefan Elliot as he's been since the start of Frolunda's camp.

Frolunda currently sit 2nd in their group. Their tied with Zurich in points, who sit 3rd. But Frolunda has the better goal differential.

Norlinder has 2 pts (1G, 1A) in 2 GP so far in the Champions League. Both points from last game.
