Loved Farabee as a prospect, thought he was well on his way to untouchable core status after his 20 goals in 55 games at age 20 in sophomore season. Just another example that development is not a linear upward trajectory.

Given that Kuzmenko is likely a short-timer under Torts, I see this as two youngish middle-six guys capable of 40-50 point seasons who didn’t play the way Torts wants for one slightly youngerish and less proven middle-six guy who *may* be capable of 40-50 points and probably plays in a way that Torts will like more plus a 2nd round pick.

Calgary gets more proven with guys still fairly young…Philly gets more flexibility.

Yeah, the trade is exactly what is listed in the thread title, and nothing more. If we got a first and a legitimate prospect back as well, we'd be having a very different conversation about this.

Farable and Frost don't even play the same sport as Richards and Carter. From what I remember, at the time there were off-ice and locker room issues with Richards and Carter.

For Farrabee and Frost it is their inability to translate their skill ro consistent productivity.

I admit I'm not the biggest Kuzmenko fan, but I was hoping he'd be better this season and Flames could have trade him for a pick at the tdl. His play however looked more like a cap dump.
These stats are quite telling, he gets good numbers when his shooting% is around 24%-27%, and that is just not sustainable.

After about 12 hours now and a sleep under my belt, this one still doesn't make much sense from a Flyers perspective.

I know the goal is now a full-on tankathon for Philly, and this certainly pushes the team towards that; they'll need some lotto luck to really get in on some of the higher end guys (In my opinion you want a top 6 pick this season).

For Calgary this is a no brainer. You turned a guy who wasn't a regular and clearly lost the confidence of his second coach in under a calendar year, an energy plug but sort of more of an energy type of guy (albeit young and showing promise), and a small part of your draft capital (Calgary from 24-26 will make 10 picks in the first two rounds, including 6 first rounders; this was the worst of the picks available from that perspective) into two players who will essentially walk into top 6 roles for the team day 1, are under team control for a number of more season and oddly enough helped the team get younger (by dropping Kuzy and one of the veteran depth guys out of the lineup).

I've been saying for a while now that Calgary needs be in a position to take advantage of questionable general managers. We will likely never bottom out because of Wolf, so we need to add to the team by taking advantage of others.

They've only ever shipped out malcontents, people Torts seems to hate, and one guy who wasn't resigning here, and the thought of moving our older players for younger assets seems to be beyond them,

As far as we can tell, Farabee and Frost were well-liked, except by the only person permitted to have an opinion that mattered. Once Torts decided he didn't want them, they were dead men walking.

Frost and Farabee had no future on the Flyers they are what they are.
but man does the value not seem that great. Pretty much hoping Kuzmenko somehow turns back into his rookie year, and that is not likely to happen.

More to do with productivity than attitude. I doubt the Flyers had a problem with their personalities. The bottom line was the bottom line.

Frost's size and skill suggests he would be a lot more consistent offensively. That was not the case and when he makes mistakes they are big mistakes.

Last night's disallowed goal and then a blueline turnover that led to a breakaway as examples.

It doesn't matter what he did, it only matters what he'll do and there's zero chance he'll get anywhere near 39 goals under Torts.

It's the policy of the Philadelphia Flyers to pick between 10-13 for the rest of time. Not good enough to contend, but not bad enough to improve. It's Flyers Hockey.

Still trying to wrap my had around this trade. I do believe Calgary might have come out ahead but that can be debated. Calgary has eaten up a lot of cap space for 2 players that are proven NHLers but are inconsistent and have been healthy scratched this year but fairly young. I can see Conroy looking at their upside but is that roster even close to being a Cup contender? I believe they need a star player, but they have hung around this year and instead of selling they have gave their players on Calgary a vote of confidence. Just do not see an end game vision for them. Philadelphia, idk, selling, retooling? no idea
