Sergachev makes 8.5 million a year and he's never had a playoffs like Bouchard has.

Factor in that Bouchard is right handed and the cap has gone up and the equivalent contract is ~9.5 million.
Sergy was also promised an extra 1 mil AAV for taking a cheap bridge to help Tampa win.

You can't even compare the two in the playoffs. Sergy was always a #3 RHD where as Bouchard was a #1 playing top PP with Mcdavid and Drai.

I love watching people give all the praise to klingberg and bash Bouchard, which last night it was clear which one is miles better.
Klingberg I thought looked *okay* for his first game in a year but yeah the assertion that he's in ANY way going to supplant Bouchard is crazy,

that's because he's not as good as Bouchard. And he's a left shot.

Well of course. Bouchard wouldn't have the same opportunity if he was playing on a team with Hedman

You want to pay him 11M for one good game?
You just said you would have a hard time paying him 8. Don't move the goalposts.

And he's had far more than one good game. Including two phenomenal playoff runs.

Sergachev had 64 points in the 2022-23 regular season. Opportunity didn't seem to be a problem before the going got tough.

I thought klingberg was fine and should be a clear upgrade on stecher, but people are excusing him for a defensive mistake and think he’s going to fix it, that’s the player he’s always been.

Yeah I would have trouble paying him more than 8M+. Seen this happen too often around the league. Not many Dman making 8M+ are living up to their deals.

Sergachev is and wasn't getting the same opportunity as Bouchard.

Yeah I know he's a LHD my bad. Typed it wrong.

I actually thought Bouchard played one of his best games of the year last night. He was skating, playing confident and had intensity in his game. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Sergachev has averaged 22 minutes a night since the 2020-21 season. Tampa has all the star power Edmonton has, and arguably more so on those back to back Cup winners.

His last full year on the Lightning he played over 200 minutes on their powerplay. He had ALL the opportunity Bouchard has.

He probably would have had the winning goal in OT if McDavid hadn't stickhandled himself into oblivion with 17 seconds left.

Why is this topic even still open? Trading Bouchard for anything less than Cale Makar is stupid.
100% agree. What he has done in the playoffs, what he did last year, and his underlying metrics- good luck finding another D man even close. Oh, he is just 24 and has only been a top pairing d man for what- 2 years (all of last season, part of the season before when Ekholm got here, and half of this season). Ridiculous that this is even thought of
