Nemec had offensive production in spurts... I think he only had 25 hits the entire season and his actual defense left a lot to be desired.

I'm not dogging the guy he's super young and still very well might turn into a stud. Having said that, 2-3 offseasons in a row he complained to Slovak media about ice time and usage.

We had Dougie Hamilton running 1 PP and Luke Hughes running the other.

I really wish him the best in Calgary and I hope Mehta turns the picks we got for him into a top six forward.

I think he's just a polarizing player, it's not a new thing. Some are really high on him, and some are really down on him.
Personally, I was more surprised than anything. I thought there was no chance they'd trade him for draft picks.

Yeah I don’t get it. I still hate the trade. It sucks we have 33 year old Hamilton in the way. I am a believer in nemec. devils didn’t treat him right. he spent time in ahl and Luke Hughes spent no time in ahl Luke Hughes gets a massive contract when he’s not really worth it. There were times when Nemec looked better than Luke but Luke is more agile and faster while Nemec has been clutch. Seeing the Chicago trade, I think Calgary did so much better they got a 22 year old potential top 2 D for much cheaper than Chicago getting a 25 year old potential top 2 D. Feel like so many devils fans are crapping on nemec like he’s a bad player. Nemec wanted to be the guy just like byram does and neither were going to be the guy on their teams

I liked Nemec, I'm glad he is going to Calgary, another team I like. In a vacuum I'd rather have Nemec than the picks, but I get that the Devils just can't affort to pay him 8m+. I think CGY did good here, whether this is good for NJD remains to be seen, but I have full faith in Sunny.

It isn't cope, this isn't new. Fans in general, even NJD fans, were way too hard on Nemec. It was almost like an intense desire for him to fail, for reasons unknown. I had faith in Nemec, I think he will be a legit top 4 at worse. The only reason I was okay with all this trade talk for months was that he was a very marketable player who would get a good return.
