From what I have seen, the Elks really want to change things around finally. No more over-paying for some superstar receiver or filling a position that's already filled. I really hope this year we are competitive.

Probably the best FA haul in CFL history.

Way too premature to declare that. Seen many teams blow their load only to not have the team gel.

I'm certainly hopeful since they've agressively looked at addressing areas of weakness, but our receivers and kicking game is a major question mark. Fortunately those are two positions that you can sometimes find cheap unknowns that can do well with the opportunity, but those positions can also easily lose you games if you don't get some reasonable talent. Fortunately Hervey has found some rookie gems at the former position. Not sure if he's got the chops to find the latter, but hopefully a Special Teams specialist as head coach might be able to give some good advice on what to look for.

A good off-season so far.

Since Ceresna left, no player (with possible exception of Oakman) has done much at the defensive tackle position. Trading Ceresna for Canadian receiver Gittens never made much sense to me. I'm glad that Jake is coming back to anchor that line.

Morgan is the best LB the EE have had in many years. His signing is key for the Defense. A 2 year deal as well. Hopefully Anderson will return to compliment him. They are a dynamite 1-2 punch.

Ford is obviously an upgrade at the Corner Back spot. Add in Dev Bynum (who looks like an emerging star at the other corner back position) and you have 2 guys who are very reliable. That assumes the Bynum is returning. I don't know what his status is.

Beard was always underrated on the O-line. Dumb trade for a T-Cat who got shipped out to the Als after a few months. One of the worst of the Jones deals.

The problem now is kicker/punter and of course receivers. Not one impact receiver on the roster.

I think we are going the Ravens route of building an offense based on a dominant oline, elite running game with a mobile QB, with competent, but lesser known receivers to add to the mix.
