I found it interesting that his coach seemed to have complete confidence in him to be the starter. Dinwiddie having been thrust into the same role in the 2007 Grey Cup after Kevin Glenn got injured in the Eastern Final. Dinwiddies' outcome wasn't as favourable as the Glenn injury undoubtedly was the main factor in the Bomber loss that day. Arbuckle played a good game despite the two turnovers.

We're probably (definitely?) a little biased since Arbuckle was at his worst in Edmonton. Going off memory he performed like a serviceable backup in his other stops, just not here. Nonetheless, the most unlikely turn of events I can recall, and there have been plenty in this league lol.

To be fair he seemed to get the shortest rope of any of the QBs we've tried since Covid, despite being a veteran.
We traded for him in 2021 with several games to go and inexplicably they refused to dress him even though he was healthy and the team was already eliminated. They didn't even give him one of the games where the team played 3 games in a ridiculous 7 days to finish the season.
Then they give him the starters role to begin 2022. His first three games didn't go so well, so they let Tre start a game against Hamilton team that was starting horribly which the defense won for them, then Nick came in relief in Game 5 after Ford was injured and he struggled and was immediately shipped out the door. So he was 0-3 in his starts and the team lost the game he played 90% of the downs and that was enough to end it.
In all, he threw the ball in 4 games total for the team and the opponents in 3 of those 4 games ended up with 12-6 records that season (Calgary x 2, BC). Wonder if they had let him play that game in Hamilton and got the win, if that would have boosted his confidence enough to at least be serviceable through the rest of the year while giving Tre some occasional snaps would have led to us not re-signing Cornelius for starters money and who knows what would have happened from there.
By contrast, Jones gave Cornelius 8 games with even worse stats and an 0-8 record before switching, then he gave MBT 5 straight going 0-5 albeit MBT had decent stats and JJ continued through to game 7.
Now that's not to say that I think we lost out on anything letting him go as he's struggled to gain traction in a couple spots since then, just that in retrospect it seems weird how a team that gave so much rope to others but immediately gave up on this guy who by all accounts is at minimum a great professional and a good locker room guy, especially when there was a major lack of experienced QBs to draw from within the team.

I get that the low point of his career was with the Elkimos at their worst, but he really didn't do much with anyone else, TBH. There was a selection of teams that he had pitstops with that basically kept him around in case of injury, either to their starter or the backup. It got so bad he seriously contemplated retirement this last off season. But again, good for him to have this happen to him, and he really does seem like a good guy.
Dr. Cornelius was a different story, I'll agree. In hind sight it seems remarkable they gave him enough rope to hang himself about 25 times and paid him huge sums of money to be incompetent. His one super fan on this board has been understandably silent now whenever his former hero's name is brought up and disparaged.

I'm fine with this. In my mind, it kind of rights a wrong from an incompetent prior regime. Now, let's get a really good coaching staff. Wonder if Hervey can convince Ford that there is a new sheriff in town and he will finally get a more than fair shot at being the teams #1.

Worst kept secret in town, hopefully Ed gets back to being a decent GM. Must not have even interviewed the Bombers asst GM. Could tell from Morris presser that Simon wouldn’t be the guy.

Will be curious to see how he goes.
Hervey's mojo is investing heavily into the lines, and finding the best possible QB on the market even if it means going into camp with 2 non-established starters that are on the verge of becoming every game starters and letting them compete with each other.
I'm not sure he'll see Ford as a ready to go, de facto starter, but maybe he can convince him to battle for the spot with another guy that's at the same point in his career with the best man winning.

Wouldn’t be shocked if Ford ends up in Winnipeg, pretty good spot for him, Colloras is likely done there after next year, if not sooner.

Possibly. But his brother is a free agent as well, so I could see scenarios where they shop themselves as a pair.
