Both these D’s with putrid games, but Ottawa’s D made no crucial stops or takeaways, while TO’s D severely bent, and broke often, but made enough big plays to be better than their opponents D. 100 point playoff game, just crazy. Don’t think the next game will be this wild.

Hard to believe a team scored 38 points in a game that was still in doubt well into the 4th quarter, and yet got blown out in the end. This has to be close to, if not a combined playoff points record.

Did Toronto touch the ball without scoring after the first quarter? I wasn't glued to the game, but didn't seem like it.

He hasn’t been close to the player he was before he left for the NFL. Gotta be pretty embarrassing for him that he’s the marquee player in the league and isn’t even a starter. I’m quite pleased that BC spent big dough on him and Betts to help their chances to get to the GC that they are hosting and neither player has done much to move the needle for them. Good job Riders, played a good game, very composed. CFL should have gone to Saturday playoff games years ago, would never have watched these games if they were on Sunday. Wish they’d do the same with the GC.

The Sask. D comes up big (twice) in the dying minutes.

With 4 minutes to go, Adams decides not to throw to the sideline pattern receiver with 1 on 1 coverage and instead opts for the end zone. Just like its drawn up on the chalkboard, the safety closes to create the 2 on 1 and the ball is a bit underthrown. Very tough in that situation for the receiver to make the catch. An interception results which pretty much closes the deal.

That's part of the beauty about the CFL. As a QB you have to be aware of the 5th D-back-- the safety, especially the ones with good closing speed.

Agreed, the switch to both games on a Saturday was a smart move in order to avoid direct competition with NFL Sunday.

Interesting fact: The Elks won more games after the month of June than the Lions did this year.

Solid game for the Riders. Balanced offense was good with the heavy running game finally healthy and with two power back options. Love the Rider receivers. Not a huge believer in Harris but he mitigates poor arm strength with quick reads and throws along with receivers who can put up yards after catches.

Defense was strong late with QB pressure forcing Adams to roll out left and throw (with poor reads) deep ball options into coverage. Easy INT stuff with a QB trying to stretch the field with throws across his body.

Hell of a Saskatchewan Day yesterday. Had more interest and excitement from a fantastic game with U Sask Huskies flushing the UBC turd with a miracle minute. Hate the U Regina Rams but they won in Manitoba for the Saskatchewan sweep. This was the biggest flame-out in recent memory. 5-1 start in a Grey Cup hosting year, and Rourke shows back up mid-season, in theory giving the Lions two of the best QBs in the league. And yet they were damn near the worst team in the league from August onwards. Expectations were rightfully much higher and Rick Campbell should probably be updating his resume on Monday morning.

I was trying to remember who they beat at Commonwealth to reach the Jason Maas Game...and eventually recalled they indeed finished third like BC and had to beat Winnipeg on the road. So yeah, quite similar, although I think they were on a 5-game win streak going into those playoffs.

Those Eastern and Western Final losses in 2016 and 17 still piss me off. Bad calls from the sideline played a big hand in both. Only reaching one Grey Cup with five years of prime Reilly really was an underachievement looking back on it.
