Did Morris said the dirty word "Es...mos.. several times?

Wonder when Morris mentioned turnover, etc, made RL squirm a bit, since he's been part of the problem for a number of years during the darkness and bad hires. Hopefully when he goes on his travels he finds a nice place somewhere to settle down and stays there.:D

I'm glad they are going to consider other candidates for the GM and coaching positions other than Simon and JJ and his group.

Sure hope this works out.

If they went back to "Eskimos" or simply dumped "Elks" for Esks/Eskies/Empire/EE/Whatever, the tone and authority that he had in his opening press conference is the exact same tact he'll have to take publicly with the change. He might be the perfect guy to be the face of it if the organization went that way.

"We're changing the name to X, it's what we want, it's what our fans want, and that's what we're going to do. It isn't racist, it's never been racist, and we'll have to simply agree to disagree with those that have convinced themselves it is. Not interested in debating it, if you don't like it then you'll have to live with it."

A soft approach that considers room for debate is one that will never win, because the mob can simply go with "they're racist" the moment they don't get what they want.

84 - That approach needs to be employed more often, in more areas.

Islands in the stream.
RL is staying on as an advisor as per Milne or Wilkins, can’t remember which one said it. Why? You got your guy. If he’s the one why does he need broken training wheels?

It’s like Blazing Saddles, they all have to protect their phoney baloney jobs.
He's the expert at hanging around and getting paid. Not saying warranted pay. He's another Nicholburger mopping up money.

They should fire RL into the sun. His "advice" should be how they can get him there quickly.

He mentioned several times they want to find out what fans want and look after them. I sure hope he and Larry will be open to that. You want to go back to the old days and the respect and admiration everyone had for them? Well, that would be a good start.

Hervey having done nothing of note (in a positive sense) for about 7 years is admittedly a concern if they were to go with him. But he was successful here in the first go around and has the strong personality that the franchise needs in that leadership position. The Eskimos returning with Morris and Hervey at the helm would bring back a lot of fans in my estimation.

Like I said, I’m not a fan of bringing him back (I wasn’t a fan of bringing Jones back either). I think he’s shady as hell but I can’t think of anybody better that I’d recommend. That in a nutshell is why this league is where it’s at.

If the CFL can recycle Tillman for a decade, they can recycle Hervey haha. Honestly this in particular isn't exactly a new phenomenon. Simply having knowledge of how the job functions is enough to get you short-listed most of the time.

Yep, that’s what they do. They recycle failed people and then wonder why it’s still not working. Tillman is a good example but he’s hardly the only one. Hervey’s sin was different from Tillman’s but it is one that I thought for sure would prevent him from getting hired again. His dishonesty actually cost his owner money.

Strange game so far. Ottawa dominating time of possession, but have stalled in the redzome three times now, while the Argos have really only had two big plays that have put them in the lead.

That would be an another thing that Tillman and Hervey have in common. ;)

I so detest Toronto and anything about it. Chad Kelly and his Argonuts hopefully
lose this game. Go RedBlacks.

What a bizarre ending to that first half, even for cfl standards. One of the worst coaching decisions I’ve ever seen in football. Score a touchdown to take the lead with 6 seconds remaining and then try a short kickoff only to fail and then see the Argos kick a field goal with that 3 seconds on the clock you left them. I don’t see the purpose of that short kick try and all it did was give the Argos a free 3 points in a close game.

CFL GM's are like the bulk of the QB's, they just get recycled from team to team. You just hope and pray that they will at the very least keep you treading water and competitive.

A short kick with six seconds left in the half has to be this years stupidest coaching decision.
I still have no idea what the purpose of that was. They would have only had time to run 1 play on offence and were way too far away from being in field goal range. If they thought that kick would be a safe way to run out the clock they were wrong about that too. I just don’t see the upside. One of the worst coaching decisions I’ve ever seen.

Brown having a nice playoff debut, but field goals won't cut it when your own defense can't stop a nosebleed. First to 50 is winning this game by the looks of it.
