Why can't it be both that the team has been shooting below their expectations and getting sub-optimal goaltending?

Because the latter part has nothing to do with why we have lost games lately. 1 goal scored against the Jackets and Islanders.

He made a huge mistake to put us down 2-1 then got beat twice on 4 shootout attempts excuse me for not doing backflips over that performance in losing to Georgiev

Except it does. They had 6.02xG between those two games according to Valiquette's data and only scored once like you said. That's undershooting expectations. Similarly, they only had 4.46 xG against in those games yet gave up 8 goals against. That's suboptimal goaltending.

Both are issues that have affected the team to varying degrees. I wasn't pining Igor and saying he sucks. I just think he needs to be better and expect him to do so once he gets into more of a rhythm. He was fantastic against Colorado.

That’s a pain of being a goalie and having extremely spoiled fans - you make 10 great saves, but they only remember a mistake
