  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Going in expectations were that we would lose, the hope was we would play well enough that with a bit of luck we could've won and that's exactly what happened.

Good morning from Arizona, please excuse me for barging in, but I could certainly use some advice from folks in Montreal and this is site place that comes to mind. I'm a lifelong Islanders fan and a hockey fan in general. I've been to many arenas throughout the NHL, but going to a Canadians game in Montreal is like going to a Yankees game in the states, it's the ultimate bucket list for any hockey fan. Yesterday I decided that Montreal would be the place to be around Christmas instead of my usual trek to NY. I'll be there from Dec 15th until Dec 19th. I have tickets for the 18th agains Buffalo, and I'm thrilled to finally see the Habs in person.

The reason for this post, is I need advice about the trip and I hope you can help. I've read the various travel sites and watched Youtube videos. but I'm still not sure about the following:
- Best section is Montreal to get a hotel. I would prefer an area where my wife and I can walk to various restaurants and cafes? Old Montreal?
- SItes I shouldn't miss? I don't want end up at tourist traps.
- Transportion? I'd prefer to not rent a car. I know how frustrating it can be to drive around metropolitan areas. How is the transportation, especially from the airport?
- Any highly recommended restaurants, especially for a nice dinner? I'm definitely getting one of your famous bagels (I'm from NY, it would be blasphemy not to). Poutine of course (La Banquise?) Any nice cocktail lounges for late night libations? My wife won't eat arena food, is there a place you can recommend to eat at before of after the game near the Bell Centre?

Again, apologies for this posting on your thread. I'm an Islanders fan, but I like to think in a larger sense I'm apart of the hockey family. Thank you for your time.

Either Laine or Dach are carrying the puck, and Dach is trying to slow the game down, which isn't what you want from him. Dach needs to move the puck faster.
Excellent point.
It's not only a Dach issue but also some of our D don't head man the puck quickly enough to catch D off guard or flat footed..
Suzuki is one of the few forwards who has been doing it well lately and it makes that line's game quicker.

If Slaf had his first few steps accelaration (where did it go), he could carry the puck more instead of passing it right after retrieving it. I think that's something that is missing. When he tries to accelerate, he's actually trying to run instead of skating. Maybe he plays too much ball hockey during the summer and should skate more instead.

And some general team comments:
- the majority of the team plays like they have way more time/space then they do in reality. They often end up losing the puck because of this.
- positioning is still out of whack most of the time...good efforts level now, but team structure is a mess. It's way more evident against a teams like the Caps that has great discipline in keeping their structure.
- cheating has come back (the Dach's line being the less guilty of this).
- Dach is not the only one who chip the pucks to nobody, way too many on the team do it which tells me that was a coach instruction...and the instruction was "chip the puck if you don't find a passing option" without specifying "where one of your teammates can get to it first".

He's a lot like Chris Higgins. He does good things on the ice, but can't score off his work.
Bingo. I’ve made this comparison before as well. Although I feel like Higgins was more liable to pass the puck and was better defensively. Poor Higgins would have a breakaway a game, and scored on every 7th one.

Newhook is a guy that just looks like he’s running on a treadmill. No idea where he’s going, or why he’s going there, but he’s in a hurry and he’s doing it by himself. He’s got the IQ of your average turnip.

Yeah, Higgins was better defensively & stronger. He was strong along the boards, too. His speed & forechecking would create so many scoring chances yet nothing would come of them.

Still pissed off about last night and certain players. This team need some big changes. At all levels. Sigh... I am so f***ing sick of losing, no matter how.

unlike Higgins, if Newhook created any scoring opportunities he actually has linemates who could capitalize.

That's Newhook
Who said we can only have one?

As a matter of fact, not much of our players are above Drouin. Compare numbers of Drouin vs Dvo, Dach, Anderson, Armia, Newhook : 4 quarters for a dollar.

Who were the 4 defections? Did they join the opposing team mid-game or worse, did they turn themselves into an officiating crew? 😭😉
I think that was him. But he doesn't seem to have the sweet touch of Perry.

I was at the survivor series last week, and the vancouver crowd was chanting ole ole for Sami zayn.

The first thing that came to mind for me was how triggered HF Habs would be at that moment.
