I can see the Canucks targetting Provorov, and without giving up a 1st they have some youthful pieces that could be quite useful for the Columbus Blue Jackets

To Columbus: Hoglander, Bains, Tolopio, Briesbois, Forbort, 2028 4th, 2027 5th

To Vancouver: Provorov, 2025 3rd

We don’t need a collection of some random players, just give us your first pick and a potential sweetener to outbid others

Translation: I know nothing about the Blue Jackets but here are some expendable pieces that I think should have some value but in reality wouldn't be anything besides plugs and cap dumps.

Im not a Canucks fan, as a neutral fan I was just spit balling some potential deals that objectively would work for both sides

Weird to say but Calgary with Florida and New Jersey picks, one of which could easily fall into the 29-32 range, seems like players here if they stick around in contention.

You and others have been on HF and don't know m2b's shtick yet? He's almost as infamous as Bernmeister, except I think that Bern actually believes what he's posting.

Why does Columbus not like random blue collar collections of bits of spare parts and pieces? :sarcasm:

Cbj are still, 10 years into the rebuild stacking 1st rounders...

Time to change something...
I know FA signings is a part ofnit, but if you always trading the core, and players for picks, you aint go nowhere.

Time to rebuild correctly.
Why not stick up a line chart, and cross every spot after a drafted spot?

After Bobrowsky, its clear as say that goaltending is the main thing in hockey

Amazing how much nonsense can fit into one post.

Pretty sure a 1st means a 1st. Most teams would probably rather make their own picks than Edmonton's picks from a few years ago. Even if Edmonton offers next year's 1st and a 3rd, any other team can still offer this year's 1st and a 3rd.
I think you’re missing the point. A late 1st this year is worth (roughly) a late 1st next year plus a 3rd. Sure, teams could add more, but then they’re paying more, so instead the offer becomes a 1st and a 2nd.

Suffice to say he’s been much better in Columbus this year than he had been to end his Philly tenure. A simplified, lower ceiling games but can still log big minutes and can play both sides.

His expiring contract works in Columbus’ favor in terms of extracting value by really opening up the potential market. If he’s retained, there aren’t going to be many reasonable options out there with as little contractual commitment and as much usage potential to add at the deadline as Provorov.

People forget GMs go crazy at the deadline. Provorov has his warts and severely underperformed his early career promise but he’s going to be more valuable to a contender than a lot of guys who have been dealt for 1sts. 24 minute per night defenseman who are in their athletic primes and who you don’t owe a huge future bill too aren’t a readily available commodity.

Yeah, he'll definitely fetch a first.

Any contending teams general manager, who wants a solid defender should scoop Provy up, a mid to late 1st should be in the ballpark for Ivan’s services, especially if there’s more retention on the remainder of Provorov’s contract.

Provorov could provide a contending team excellent defense in his own zone.

Actually, it’s not up to us what Columbus will accept, now is it?
We do know the expectation is a first. That could mean the equivalent of a first. So, Columbus could value a package of young plays as equal to a first. It depends, of course, on that package.

Red Wings should look into this. They could be in need of getting a d-man around his age, preferably even a year or two younger but if they would be allowed to speak and agree to an extension, could make sense.

Something around 1st, a decent prospect and Chiarot. He has to go back because of cap purposes and also he could fit better in as a veteran d-man there than in Detroit.
