European players is not Jackets hockey? That's what you're saying? Because it sounds like that's what you're saying. So thanks-but-no-thanks to Bobrovsky, Anisimov, Tyutin, for example? And let's bail before it's too late on guys like Wennberg and Dano. And oh by the way can we get a new GM.

Your ability to oversimplify in a nationalist manner never ceases to amaze.

Russia ain't Europe (partial :sarcasm:)

Allowing that Russia is divided between both Europe and Asia, Bob is the only player you can remove from my previous post.

That said, I don't know how you can be divided between Europe and Asia. Sure Joey Tempest and mates had a big hit with The Final Countdown, but the 80s supergroup at least matched it with Heat of the Moment and had a succession of AOR staples as well.

No more European players, that's not Jackets hockey, we need guys with grit, not more floaters, we are all full up on floaters with Gaborik.

So what you're saying is that Gaborik could put up 150 points and you'd still want him gone because of what continent he was born on?

Outstanding!

You do realize that our GM is European, right?

He doesn't seem quite the same the last couple years and his salary would be hard to fit it. I know he's got a NTC and he has been better this year but IDK I think if Washington would take Umberger we would have to do it. I think most of you are underestimating how good Erat actually is...was...or can be. Probably really does just need a change of scenery.

about last summer.
Erat broke Vyborny. So no, never, never, never.

(At least that is what I remember happening, if not, then I've been holding a grudge against the wrong player for years.)

Yeah, let's trade Tyutin for Carter. He's a good Ontario boy, must be gritty.:sarcasm:

I don't agree that Martin Erat is washed-up or ineffective. I do question what's become of him, and I'd have a difficult time finding the last player to request a trade from two separate teams in less than a year.

At his best, he's somewhere between David Vyborny and Jakub Voracek. He needs to be on a line with an actual finisher, since he's basically a playmaker who's never been willing to take the shot. It's been said that he's never used in shootouts because his first temptation is to pass in all situations.

Hmmmm, on the one hand we could use a playmaker; on the other hand we don't have a lot of good to great finishers. Although if he could awaken Gabby there might be something to be had if the $$ could be worked out.

Doesn't impress me as the type of player that fits the mold of this franchise.

Might impress me as a low risk experiment. By all accounts he's doing the job he's asked to do on the ice.

Frankly I don't know how it would work, financially, so not worried about it.

I know how good he was - I was able to see it firsthand most CBJ-NSH games.

That said, he seems to be a shadow of that player. I suppose it could be the way he's being used, but I would imagine that if he were capable of more, his most recent coaches would've utilized that.
