my counterpoint to this is that i have simply not read those comments and like a tiny baby playing peek-a-boo for the first time, they may as well not exist to me

i do wonder if the idea of getting him retained down to 50% + getting out of compher's deal in the same trade would change their feelings.
Not meaning to accuse; just trying to appraise y'all of the situation. I know not everybody here has the (lack of) sanity necessary to regularly browse TR&FA.

hey don.. yes plz

A guy making just shy of $8m/year for the next six years who has literally never managed to complete a full season of play in the NHL due to frequent recurring shoulder injuries. Ryan Murray was more consistently available than he's been.

I would not consider that a worthwhile risk.

EDIT: Side-by-side comparison of Murray's and Norris' games played, by age:
AgeMurray GPNorris GP
19660 (17/36 NCAA)
20123 (56/60 AHL)
218256
226066
23448
245650
Started at 19 because neither of them were playing NHL games before that age. Cut off at 25 because this is Norris' age 25 season, which is obviously not done yet; Murray had only 27 games that season and after it was no longer a Blue Jacket.

He has a trophy named after him, he can't be that bad???

...low-hanging fruit and all that

If we trade for Norris I'll become the Prince of Wails.
Could I then become the Prince of Whales?

Obviously we’d need to add but my goodness if Brady Tkachuk is available I’d make anyone not named KJ, Werenski, or Fantilli available.

The problem is I believe Fantilli would be the exact player they’d

I don't think it's going to happen but hey, Jiricek and a top 3 protected 1st in 2025?

Seems like a great opportunity for a Jiricek deal. :sarcasm:

tell that to all the people on the main board who are pitching their shitty jiricek proposals around a b prospect, fringe player and 2nd round pick
That's survivorship bias in action; the people who legit recognize You Have To Give To Get by and large aren't the ones dumb enough and Dunning-Krugered enough to be posting those proposals.

Since I hope that Jiricek sticks around and plays the rest of the season with Mateychuk in Cleveland building chemistry with him, if Columbus keep Fabbro (fingers crossed) and Christiansen, I'd like to see them try Mateychuk and Jiricek on a pair together in the NHL next season with Gudbranson (or Harris) as the 7D like so:

Werenski-Fabbro
Christiansen-Severson
Mateychuk-Jiricek
Gudbranson

It's tough to break in multiple kids at once in general, nevermind on the same pair but atleast in this scenario they could be protected until they show its not needed

Yeah, it's unconventional but my thought process is also if they played the same system in Cleveland and showed chemistry, they'll have a foundation to stand on and then you maybe can put some veteran forwards like ZAR and Olivier with them to insulate them. I just think those three D pairs will be really good.
