Line Combos: CBJ Roster Discussion/Line Combos/Injury Report

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Apropos of nothing, but I have drafted sillinger, mateychuk, johnson, Del Bel Belluz, & Lindstrom in my keeper league entry drafts the last few years. I also have Zach Werenski on a long term contract. I'm not a Columbus fan but as you guys go, so shall my fantasy team so I guess Im rooting for ya'll now.

Its been a treat watching Johnson finally breakout. Hopefully he keeps it up and Mateychuk & Lindstrom aren't far behind.

So nobody noticed that he mentioned Elvis had issues with a number of teammates ?

Yeah that's a shock considering I'm sure some of them are still on the team...

[MOD]

Unbelievable that it has gotten to this. Something like that should have been dealt with immediately. Think of the upper hand the other GMs in the league have over Waddell/the organization in any type of Merzlikins move at this point.

Well, if anything, now we can find out what the team could look like without Provorov.

Harris is actually looking good tonight, and I still think Christiansen is a good player, but, please can we just give Mateychuk some games and see what happens.

Greaves also.

In a perfect world maybe. But we are trying to win right?

Also hate to be this guy, but if JVR is going to be playing top6 time, I’d prefer someone else get a try. LDBB has earned a chance.
Personally, I don't really think we are. The Jackets are playing with house money at every level of the organization this year from DW's perspective. This year to the front office is about evaluating and setting a new standard after the dumpster fire of the last few Jarmo years. Winning is to be encouraged but not at the expense of player evaluation or development. In addition I suspect major roster decisions involving the big club are pretty much frozen until the front office figures out if the team's surprising competitiveness is for real or just a preview of what could be from a young and emotional team.

For what it’s worth, I agree. My question was a loaded question.

Basically, calling up Mateychuk IMO would say we are trying to win / care about this year. But I doubt it happens.

Mateychuk being one of our better defensemen options was the main point, but it doesn’t seem to matter.

Translation (via my phone):
The Blue Jackets got draft picks in the deal involving Jiricek, but don't be surprised if they get rid of it sooner rather than later! They are to be watched

Chinakhov - Monahan - Johnson
Voronkov - Fantilli - Marchenko
Aston-Reese - Sillinger - Olivier

are interesting lines. Can move Chinakhov to Sillinger, with whom he has great chemistry and getting a first line player. Van Riemsdyk belongs at most in the 4th. The question is whom?

He is astoundingly durable

At this point I am just assuming there's like some winter soldier stuff going on and they just replaced his arm or something. Like your fingers don't bend that way and he's apparently in the lineup within 48 hrs? This man is truly dented iron if he shows up tonight.

I put this trade out there in a K’Andre Miller thread on the trade board and a couple of people said it is unfair to the Jackets. I think it is a fair trade. What do you guys think?

CBJ 2025 1st (top 3 protected)
Minnesota 2025 1st or Ivan Provorov with retention ($2 million cap hit)
Corson Ceulemans or Samuel Knazko

for an extended Miller

Why the Jackets do it - they need a big bodied veteran D entering his prime

Why the Rangers do it - a probably 5-10th overall pick gives them a cost controlled player for years, retained Provorov is cheaper than Miller or additional trade piece for deadline, depth D prospect

I think trading our pick is way over what I’m willing to do, personally. Even if it’s top 3 protected.

I’d obviously do the Minnesota pick + Provorov + something else but I wouldn’t trade our pick.
