except roslovic can score and is leading one of the best teams in the league in scoring with 9 goals… his 9 goals would be leading our team by a country mile.

We could always trade Sillinger to Florida and see how much his production goes up playing on a really good team.

Just tired of losing at this point. I didn’t expect them to be good at all, but the perennial streakiness of the team is so frustrating to watch after 4 years straight of this bullshit. I can accept losing, and I obviously expected them to go on losing streaks. But not prolonged streaks like this, again, just like last year. I don’t even think they’re playing poorly offensively (defensively is a mixed bag, but much worse goaltending. Somehow) but the losing has worn so thin that I’m starting to question the long term ability of our so called top young players.

KJ, by virtue of not playing, is exempt. Because he looked damn good before the injury.

It just opens a Pandora’s box of “what happens next.” Like Werenski has been here forever and committed here. I can’t imagine he’s thrilled with sucking yet again. Does he want to stick around? Everything suggests yes, right now, but how long does that stick?

Thinking its time to trade Labanc at this point
The guy has 8 pts in 11 games with 11 minutes of ice time
Maybe get a 4th or 5 th for him is better than nothing
He has no real futur in Columbus

Yeah, this team reminds me of 2020 team that lost Bread, Bob, Duchene etc but still somehow managed to beat the Leafs in the play in round
In that season we didn't have a second line of players under 25 and players like Danforth, Pyyhtia and Olivier in the third line. Nothing against, on the contrary, they are playing better than we expected, but we have two fourth lines.

And Elvis/Korpi played better.

But Voronkov will be better (I think he played good in the last game), Johnson will return and I believe Fantilli finds his play soon. Btw, I like this line, I mean players have chemistry. And if instead of Sillinger Johnson will be there it can be a great line. :thumbu:

Hahahaha……3. All 3 huge holes and distinct roles. KJ looked like arguably our best player before getting hurt.

Nobody misses Laine.

The team is better off, a better team, without BOTH him and Roslovic. Neither guy’s problem was scoring, it’s that they are terrible overall/two way players that have serious chemistry issues with the vast majority of players they play with.

Does anyone think Fantilli could use a 10-15 game stretch in Cleveland? Maybe send him & Jiricek together?

I wouldn't do it.

He's got 7 points in 15 games with only 1 point on the PP. His shooting percentage is only 8% and that's below what one can reasonably expect over the longer term.

He just turned 20 and has excelled at every level at which he's played. Playing against lesser players isn't going to improve his game IMO.

In tradesman terms he's still an apprentice. I believe his learning curve will be expedited by playing against the best. He'll hit his potential in due course.

I can see this but going down and picking up some points will help his confidence, the team did it last year with Johnson (under the old regime, don't know if Waddell subscribes to that line of thinking). If Fantilli continues to falter then maybe sending him down might not be a bad thing.

I think he (and everyone who is allowed) should be sent down when the league takes it's time off for this 4 Nation thing

a team that hasn't scored more than two goals over their last six games would probably misses what laine brings a little bit. at least the healthy version of him.

i don't miss roslovic at all, but the only addition by subtraction that this team had from last year to this year was Pascal Vincent.

chinakhov and marchenko were atrocious defensively last year. they've been a lot better in this system. a healthy laine in this system could have looked a lot different, but obviously he wasn't receptive to continuing here, so it's a moot point.

the laine trade was necessary, the gaudreau tragedy was unforeseeable, and the KJ injury was just bad luck. now they simply don't have enough guys in the lineup who can make things happen with the puck. it is what it is.
