Fingers crossed!
I'm also hoping that Josh Anderson (Knights' alumni) has a strong training camp and can crack the roster. Long shot, but I'll be watching.
He "did" last year. A few players, both touted and un-touted(traded), were kept over him or called up at different parts of the year when they shouldn't have. Part of that I'm sure had to do with them not wanting him sitting in the press box but for most of the year we had guys
playing that were less effective than him.
Josh will be among the first callups for sure...love his game...
Just looking at his stats from last year(and somewhat jrs) you do kinda wonder why the numbers aren't at least a tad better. I'm sure a lot has to do with usage(players above him) on above average offensive teams, but from his short time here and video of him, he seems to have NHL size, speed, stickhandling and shooting. I don't claim to have seen him "in game" anymore than about 10(NHL/preseason) games but another
possible reason I guess for the "lack" of scoring could be that he doesn't seem to be the smartest player on the ice. Not so much in making the "wrong" decision like an Umberger or Wiz, but
not making the "right" decision ala Atkinson or 2012/13 Foligno. You just wish they'd do things a little bit different to give themselves a better chance at executing whatever they are attempting. But he is a rookie.
Another guy I want to bring up again that maybe deserves to be the 1st guy in Columbus(also depending on camp) is my boy TJ Tynan. A very good 2 way player. A more skilled, less gritty, pass 1st Calvert I think he could be compared to. Defensively responsible/smart enough to play wing on a Campbell line IMO. Size "could" be an issue at the NHL level playing center but he's no question(
IMO) better than Chaput, Collins, Tyrell, Morin, Tropp, Gibbons...
