First off, no. This team is 5-6-1 in the last 12. 10-12-1 in 2015. There is absolutely nothing to suggest this team will start winning 2 out of 3, even when Bob comes back. We are a mediocre, .500 team.

Secondly, 16 W's = 32 more points. We only have 56 as it is. 88 isn't going to get in. Period. The last time 88 was the cut line was in 2010 when the conferences were 15/15. There are more points going around the East with the 16/14 imbalance. Even throw in a couple OTLs and it still isn't going to be enough. Boston is going to get its $hit together or the Panthers or Flyers will pass them.

Very convenient of you to arbitrarily go back TWELVE GAMES so you could include the 3 game losing streak to pad your argument!

We are a different team, starting with the Blues 7-1 route. Since then we are 5-3-1, which is a .611 clip with our backup goalie, that everyone has previously loved to slam, until recently, and without our future captain that is on the verge of returning. Not to mention we have Arty hitting stride after his lengthy injury, and Dano is looking good. So to go back any further than a few weeks is ridiculous because we are a different team. Look at our losses, LA-defense was horrid, Mont-we played a damn good game against one of the class of the NHL in their barn on HNIC and NYI-Forsburg should never have been playing that game, shame on TR for that, we were in all those with the exception of a couple minute spans where we collapsed.

I gave you all of 2015 as well. Which is 23 games so far. We're under .500. The facts are the facts.

Boone is not close to returning, despite your best wishes. He just started light skating. He's still a ways out.

Thank you for ignoring my 88 point argument, though. 93 is probably more realistic, even a bit on the low side depending on what other teams do. 17-4-3? Hell no.

No I'm going by when we started playing well, I'm not a stats major like some of you, I am going by the feel of the team and their play on the ice. If you want to measure how they are playing and where they are heading. If you just want to piss the season away with stats that prove you are right, why not go back and include Oct and Nov then?

We started our run with the Blues game, that, and after that, is what I feel represents the team we have now, the 3 game losing streak and before, wasn't the same team, so why bother analyzing that far back?

Why are you wasting so much time arguing if you have packed the season in, why bother coming on here or watching if you think there is no hope?

I hate basketball and baseball, so this is all I have to root for until football season, so I'm choosing to be positive and hope for the best.

And that is your right. I also see your point that the team has been playing better lately although not at the pace we need to make it. I'm kind of in redstorm's camp here. While i know we have had two fantastic finishes the last two years, looking for a third out of this team facing who we have to just isn't likely to me.

Also I think you have underestimated Boston. I think they rally a bit. Their next 6 have 5 at home against Vancouver, Arizona, Calgary, Philly and Detroit with a trip to NJ in there somewhere followed by a trip to Ottawa. Those 7 games will be very important in how this all turns out. They go 5-2 I think the party is over; they go 3-4 we still have a chance.

One way or the other its going to be a wild ride down the stretch.

You guys are both right.

We are playing our best hockey of the year right now, and could finish with a great run.

And we are so far out of it that there's almost no chance of making the playoffs.

...this is pretty much where I stand. We've had two back-to-back great runs, but only made the playoffs once. Missing again - even with the team playing well - is quite probable, and not at all unprecedented. While I hope that's not the case, I'm trying to plan as though it likely will be.

I'm struggling with "best of the year" considering the team went 10-1-1 in December (granted, we were basically trolling Corsi on the back of Bobrovsky).

We had a couple good games in PA recently, but the team is inconsistent. In the long run (10 games, 20 games, pick your number) we're pretty much a .500 team. So yes, maybe they can win two or three in a row. They're just as likely to lose that many as well.

CBJ is playing some solid hockey right now. I think Boone Jenner and Ryan Murray would be huge additions but don't know that Bob offers any more wins that what McIlhenney has. What holds me back from thinking a huge finish will happen is that I see how long it took for Dubi to start playing good hockey and the team to adjust to having him back in his role. Add Jenner and Murray and they aren't going to come back and be difference makers off the bat. In fact, I think there would be a drop in play initially and then as they adjust this team would be very, very good.

Since there are only 24 games remaining I have little hope of gaining 35-38 pts and seeing all the teams in front of us only garnering 25-30 pts. There are simply too many teams.... That said, I still want wins to close out the year.

We are playing our best hockey

Our team is good, no doubt. Really we can trade our this season's 1 st without any problems, anyway we have huge potential and our spirit unbroken. I hope our asymmetric roulette style coaching problem will be solved, we need edge coach ( before D, RW, backup G) for better achievements :)

One game, and one day at a time. The Jackets have the Sabres tomorrow, and with a win can reduce the cut-off to single digits ( 9 points ). A loss, well...let's just say they wouldn't even deserve playoffs.

9 points out with 25 games remaining is definitely not impossible, especially with our MVP on the cusp of returning.
I don't see why most of you have given up, with still 1/4th of the season remaining. It just baffles me.

Oh, thats all. Just Bob and Boone.

Yep, and a few plugs who are not important to the team, and are not considered part of the 'core' ( Prout, Morin, etc... )

If a team has players the likes of Johansen, Dubinsky, Foligno, Jenner, Hartnell, Anisimov, Letestu, Bobrovsky ( the list goes on ) then that's a pretty damn good team.
