This is a relief. This is for the good of this team. The team needed a clean start. They now have a competent team president with hockey experience and a chance for John Davidson to start from scratch with his own GM and likely his own coach when all is said and done. There are some great candidates out there and there may be more before the season is over--George McPhee's seat is getting warm. The Jackets are now the first team in line for those candidates. And Scott Howson will not be a cloud hanging over the team's most important draft in its history.
As for Howson, my guess is the guy doesn't like me and I don't blame him. From my end, I have no personal animus towards Scott Howson. I hope that he learns from the things that went right and the things that went wrong when he was GM here. Maybe he'll get another chance someday and like Bill Belichick he'll find the second go 'round goes better. Best of luck to him, but our team needed a change and I'm glad that John Davidson decided to do this now instead of wait longer.
