What I like is that you aren't waiting till the end of the year/season to start this process, no "lame duck" status. JD recognized the need for change, made it decisively. Like I said, may or may not be a rousing success, but its a move towards what Davidson has been preaching since Day 1 here.

Bingo. Decisiveness.

Looking forward to seeing the moves Kek will make... Mostly excited to see how the three first round picks are used this summer... Things appear to be under major reconstruction in the CBJ organization... :thumbu:

Hello Capn! Well well, now this is interesting turn of events for Columbus

Congratulations for you guys if it happens, I was actually pretty surprised at the time he took the GM job in Finland, leaving the Blues organization. I remember the Blues GM saying that Kekalainen will definitely be a GM for a NHL team soon, seems that he was pretty spot on with that prediction.

I know that it's again another guy without previous NHL GM experience, but he has great connections and he was really important piece for the Blues, especially with draft and prospects.

You guys really deserve to start winning sooner than later, hope this brings new boost for the organization!

Hopefully this means you'll visit us more often, too! :)

Yeah I agree on this, I think it extended to the amount of leash Howson had too, many organizations would have fired him much sooner.

I'll see if I can get my interest about writing back ;) Maybe I even have a chance to get back to Columbus next year, planning to come for Mustang's 50th Anniversary party to US and I have enough AA miles for an extra flight there... Let's see!

How did I miss this post?

Good to hear from you Handyy. Hope it's not the last time.

Can't say as I'm too shocked, but I am a little bummed. I like Howson, despite some obvious blunders I thought he had this team moving in the right direction.

Thank god its not Burke. The more I read about Kekalainen the more excited I'm getting.

Kekalainen , pronounced: keh-kah-LAY-nin

He is better known as "Keklu" or "Keku" because kekäläinen is too long to pronounce even for finns.

Im so glad for him, the first european as nhl team GM. In 2010 he said that he will be nhl gm in 5 years, he was right. He is easily the best gm in Finland and prolly in Europe. 2002-2010 as assistant gm in St. Louis he did an awesome job and after that in Jokerit he put the **** together and made the team quickly best in Finland.

Gonna be an even more interesting trade deadline. I think its interesting JD didn't mention a jacket veteran when ge singled out dubi and AA as playing the right way. I am becoming more certain that the trade deadline will be a major house cleaning of guys like Brass and Umby.

I am okay with him having no GM experience in the NHL, because he has been a GM in another professional league and he has worked with Davidson before.
