There is some risk to it, but it's not an overpay. He'd either be on a 2-3 yr x $3-4 mil or a 5 yr x $5.4 mil, considering Columbus isn't competing within those 2-3 years this makes sense.

Hes right there statistically with guys like Shesterkin but seems like people are scared to give him credit because he didnt come from the KHL and played for Torts. Columbus was a dumpster fire last year and the other goalie struggled but Merzlikins still did his thing. Must have just been the Torts effect with just his starts
