Was a tossup between Zaar and Bittner for me. Zaars goal scoring ability last season was enough to give him the edge.

Interesting that we voted Abramov (3rd rd) in and Peeke (2nd rd) can't even get added. Obviously Jarmo needs our help. :sarcasm:

Kolesar add Gavrikov.

I love Gavi and Nuti. It'd be great if both of those guys make the team together some day. They'd be like our Enstrom and Buff (taken 8 spots apart in the 8th round (!) in 2003).

Yeah, I was going to say something along these lines too - but, best to just let democracy do its thing.

I think Peeke is getting underrated, but it's not crazy to have Abramov higher. He was higher than Peeke on all the pre-draft lists. Peeke was, IIRC, generally considered a third round type, and Abramov could have gone as early as a late first.

If Jarmo had done better with the Heatherington and Collins picks I would have more confidence in the Peeke pick. But that's just a heuristic - the little video of Peeke out there shows a guy with size who can skate and shoot. That's a good start.

Can anyone offer a scouting comparison of Heatherington and Gavrikov?

From what I can tell they're both big, strong, smart defenders with little offensive presence. The big difference is Gavrikov's skating and lateral mobility - which I see as critical for NHL shutdown duty.

But it's an embarrassing situation if I'm the guy you're relying on to assess these two. :help:
