i thought it was a really fun (and frustrating) game, pumped for this series. they'll be ready to go for the playoffs. devils have strengths where rangers have weaknesses but they can grind this team down over a series.

Cant turn over the puck like they did for much of the game. They live off the counter, got to do a better job.

"Let them have the regular season series"
"Still think we win a series"
"If Lindgren played we would've won"
"We're not that slow"

Their speed should scare us. Really need to find a way to slow the game down against this team. Way to many players with below average speed

Handled the speed fine IMO. A few Herculean efforts to get back on D kept us in it. Problem is we have zero pick support and they collapse on us quickly. Too many guys skating in 1 v 4 and then it’s back the other way.

We lost 2-1 on the road against a very good team.

That's it.

There's no reason it needs to turn into a circlejerk about how we don't play hard enough, so I'm sure that's what it'll turn into.
Rangers are still the favorites in a playoff matchup. Devils haven’t proven Jack shit. Not even entirely sure if the devils can play grind hockey in a 7 game series let alone handle the physicality.

Basically, I think the Devils dominated the first and took their foot off the gas thereafter. Rangers looked better after the first but it might be fools gold. Either way, I absolutely want more Rangers-Devils games this year.

Two observations.
Other than the fourth line, the forwards refused to dump and chase until there was 3 minutes left in the third. Seemed odd that they wouldn’t want to take that road, especially against a smaller non-physical team.
2nd:
Something is not right with Kreider. He refuses to engage physically. In the past he use to throw opposing players around like rag dolls and his mental game is off as well. Holding the puck along the end board in the offensive zone at the end of the 2nd period with less than 10 seconds remaining is just bad decisions making.

“It took us a little while to settle in.”

Adam, someone from the room says that every game vs good teams.
