i just dont see how Mittelstadt is a significant improvement over what Calgary currently has... Kadri, Zary, Sharangovoch, and now Frost.
Why would Calgary be interested in giving up assets to make a trade that likely won't make a difference
Maybe they see him as a future piece they want on the team next year? I dunno honestly.

To add to this above point

E. Lindholm, Coyle, Zacha, Geekie, Frederic, Beecher, Poitras, Kastelic. That's 8 players who can play center. All 8 have played center at some point this year except maybe Geekie (but he was #1C against Florida last year). We do not need a Mittelstadt type. We don't need anymore centers unless it's the bonafied #1 guy we need and I don't think that's coming anytime soon.

100%. Mittlestadt just adds to the confusion of who is playing C at any given night.

From the games I’ve watched, he’s been horribad!!!!! Not sure why anyone besides a bottom feeder would have interest.

Definitely does not scream Bruins type of player. He’s so weak and loses so many puck battles it’s not even funny.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Manson was a beast during the cup run, and mean top-4 RHD don't exactly grow on trees. Kadri's contract wasn't raved about the moment it was signed and still is a bit worrisome. Only makes sense for the Avs now because of their closing window and the rising cap.

Cap crunch always results in hard decisions. Byram was traded because of his contract status and role on the team, all of that is still true today and he's also on Buffalo's block. 2C options also don't grow on trees - just check out the current trade market. Mitts was available and had a great first 40 games with the Avs. Who knows what's gone sideways the last 30, but a lot of it probably has to do with Bednar, his system, and Mitts being in his own head.

CMac's moves haven't been perfect but I wouldn't classify any of them as 'terrible' - perhaps except the RyJo move and not being proactive with Georgiev. I put more onus on the coach not getting more out of his players (Colton is another example of this). Bednar rides 4 players hard and then hopes for the best.

On topic of the thread... there's no chance is an option from Minnesota, right?
Who else is Colorado adding?

That’s probably correct. Especially not for Casey.

Would love Kadri (with retention) on the Jets. Would be willing to deal Barlow and a 1st or possibly Lambert if retention was enough to make Kadri’s contract a bargain.
Neither are having great years tho esp barlow, who hasnt done anything since drafted. But realistically lambert would be the caliber of prospect we would look into if we trade kadri tho.

Boston recieves:
Mittelstadt
Ritchie
2nd round pick

Colorado recieves:
Marchand

Who says no?

Don’t the avs need a center back though.
They would be better off doing a mittlestat package like this for kadri. Not saying Calgary would do it, but the flames are listed as one of the 3 teams interested. I’d be going after kadri much more than Marchand if I’m the avs.

Marchand can play Center and Winger. He can easily he the 2C in Ava decide to go for it.
