You really should do a little research because there is precedent that drafted players take more than two years to develop. He's legitimately the worst player on the roster, and that's really saying something. I get that he's young and a lot can change in a couple good developmental seasons...but his performance so far in 113 NHL games is very concerning to me.
What scares me is that he hasn't improved in any area whatsoever. And for a kid who was ranked the #2 prospect in all of hockey by some his complete lack of any offensive impact is troubling. He just doesn't seem to have that "it" factor.
I saw all I needed to see to believe in Jack when he roofed the first shot he ever took against Ottawa. With Casey, I still am waiting for that "wow" moment. He needs to be sent down and worked on by Taylor before we have ourselves another high pick forward that doesn't help this offense get to respectable levels.
I agree that he needs to be in the AHL. I don't agree that he is slow but I do see him missing simple plays that a guy in a beer league wouldn't miss like accepting a simple pass or letting the puck get away from him(no I am not saying beer league guys are better)I was a huge Mitts advocate but it’s clear he’s not developing here. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen too many players that lack speed, strength, decision making and work ethic like him. I’m thinking it’s a confidence thing for him being as young as he is. He was always the best player on the ice as he was coming up naturally and I don’t think he’s put in the work off ice that he says he has, to get better. He’s a liability every times he’s out there and living in his own head. I won’t call him a bust, yet, he’s only 20. However, he needs to go to the Amerks to develop. Tage Thompson is a much better player and had to do his time.
One day, I’m hoping the world aligns and we see a
Mitts-Cozens-TT line at the NHL level. On paper, if they develop, that can be one hell of a top 6 line.

I'm concerned his long-term offensive potential will be stunted because he's spent so much time just trying to keep his head above water at this level.
I wish we could get answers from Botts to why Mitts is not in the AHLAgain, if Dea was up and playing Mitts’ minutes, doing the same things (Limited shot production, spotty at best scoring) but Casey was Thompsoning it up in Rochester...who is worse for that?

Doesn't make much sense to healthy scratch him for any period of time. Step in the right direction
I actually like his defensive strides this season. He is just so ineffective offensively. I'd like to see a more active and affective forecheck with a less hot potato approach in the O zone. He needs to make room for himself and not just toss the puck when under pressure.Send him down. Let him play 20 minutes a night, work on the first powerplay and in the top 4 PKers (something he doesn't even sniff in Buffalo). Let him work on his defensive responsibilities and be "the man" in offensive situations instead of trying to just hold on shift to shift.
It's past time to do it.

But yeah, they need to pull the trigger
