I wouldn’t. There’s a surplus on D right now. It’s a good chance to really change up the mix.

He should still have some value. I think the team really needs to commit to a new direction. You have Mancini and Willander coming. Need space for those guys.

If the team decides to move Juulsen and Forbort instead, that would be fine too. But either way, they need to open up a spot or two.
I’m saying if all they could get in return for Soucy is a 5th round pick and a defenseman in Miromanov that they probably don’t even want, I would pass. Keeping Soucy allows them to jettison Forbort and/or Juulsen. I prefer that to adding a 5th and making Calgary better.

Even with his play at somewhat of a low point at the moment -- there's no way a defenseman with his size, at his relatively small salary point, with one more year of control, who held down a top 4 role credibly last season, in today's incredibly thin market for defensemen, and who the Canucks can easily keep as luxury depth with no pressure to ditch salary -- is returning anything less than a third or equivalent in value. Probably closer to a second, honestly.

Fair, I was just thinking saving 2m for next year (or 3.125m if Miro gets buried) would be something the Canucks would be interested in.
They might be, in the offseason. Or if they need to shed cap for a deal this year. But making Calgary better now for a pittance probably isn’t in their best interest.

Third and a 6th

Errrrrrr.................errrrr..............Imma roll the dice he improves dramatically not having to be relied upon to be a #3 d man which he's not.........last night was a good indication he was solid..........unless we get a 2nd now it's a pass........someone will pay that *FINGERS CROSSED PRAYING LOOKING IN THE AIR

Soucy is a great team guy and had a fantastic season and playoffs last year playing a shutdown role.

Just an example of his character, 20 yr old D-Petey is the one that pretty much took Soucy's job/spot but instead of having hard feelings or taking it personal, guess who was first in the scrum last night to defend D-petey and get in the battle with him..

Hughes-Myers
Pettersson-Hronek
Pettersson-Soucy
Forbort, whoever

Not a bad D corps. Soucy as a RD is fine for now. We always have injuries too, so I have no trouble keeping him. If we get a great offer, I am not aversed to moving him. If not, meh, we have other moves that take priority.

warning, RANT:

you guys realize a lot of the canucks related noise was generated by these 2 guys right? They are the go to personalities for any interested parties be it management, agents, opposing GMs want their narrative amplified. and us, the mass, just eats it up indiscriminately.

In markets like mtl, toronto, vancouver, it becomes a self filfilling prophecy, because the fan base just runs with it, algorithms spin the articles with slight alterations on clickbait sites, then the player get stopped in a safeway while shopping for avocados what he thinks of the locker room, or being shopped. and Brisson has to come out and clear the air, and basically say "shut up about my client". I think of the Kevin Weeks eyeball tweets, its so lazy and annoying and anti productive. I think of the Kevin Weeks eyeball tweets, its so lazy and annoying and anti productive, Im so tired of Canuck news from these two.

Some of these "musings" make no sense if you think like the GM, they dont make snap judgments after 2 games of EP(D) showing promise, trading away a guy that was a good soldier for all his career until this 50 game spread.
