I agree and disagree I guess. :D

You touch on the one thing thing I think has been under rated so far. How big it was to just have steady goaltending. I think it went in all directions. Bought us time in games to figure things out, bought us time half the season to learn how to score. We didnt really have any games to me that you would point to as a game we wouldve won with better goalies. That's huge. We absolutely got a huge confidence boost from that.

I dont know if I could tie that to our team toughness in a physical sense. In the mental sense, for sure. My previous post was talking about the physical sense.

It was freakish. You can count the "soft goals" on one hand. They weren't always stealing the game, but they were never the problem even once.

I thought Cam got more of a bad rap than he deserved from us... until I saw what it was like to not give up a weak goal glove high every other game. I was so used to soft goals being an inevitable part of hockey, it was amazing to watch goalies not give them up.

Dzingel, 27, has a career shooting percentage of 15 percent in 268 regular-season games and it’s higher five-on-four. While his defense has been questioned at times, he can find the net and should help a Canes power play that was woefully inconsistent last season.
“I like to think I can do it all but at the same time I understand I’m a finisher,” he said. “I put myself in situations to get open and use my shot.
“My speed and my shot are two things that I rely on the most. I like to do it all and don’t want to be one-dimensional. I want to keep growing and that’s why I don’t want to say I’m just a shooter but I believe actually that’s what I am. I’m a shooter.”

Nothing about Reimer though. He's not perfect but I think he's capable of playing 35 games. Used to be useful in the past.

I guess the goaltending depth is still up-in-the-air. Who knows what the Laine situation does to Winnipeg, for example. Also, Canes are in a good position to do something if Vancouver needs cap room for Boeser (Finnish-Canadian Virtanen!). So I think the Reimer situation is dependent on what happens with other teams. In the end, though, I think Reimer will backup for one season, hopefully regain some value, and then be traded for a mid-low pick the next offseason.

Why do I get the feeling they are promoting the black jersey to our home uniform this year
Seems to be the obvious way things are headed. I welcome it. And they've hinted on the CanesCast to stay tuned for all the jersey news, including new road unis at the least.

As for the Reimer thing, no number, and no blurb when he was acquired if I recall. I don't remember a ton mentioned about him period from the team. Certainly may not be completely done this summer aside from Williams and RFAs.

for everyone else (trade, UFA, RFA) other than Marleau they posted a welcome (back) to Raleigh Instagram

I think he's being shopped / or at least keeping the option open to move him if the space is needed

Am only one who thinks that our home red jersey are one of the best in the league? Would be sad to see the team without them
I do really like the home reds, and would be sad to see them demoted, but they do seem to play better in the blacks. Above all, I really want to see them embrace the flag stripe, and only the red has it at the moment.

YES by god the flags are fantastic and I miss them and the halfass red on red is super lame. The reds are way better looking than the blacks though the blacks have grown on me. They fixed the biggest problem the old blacks had, which was too much grey/not enough white- nothing on it popped, with the new blacks the numbers and names pop wonderfully. I still think the double flag logo needs a triangle behind it in the worst way, and while the stripes are fine they'd be better if they were flags. I'm a little worried a white version of it will be drab and/or look too much like the Devils.

Alright, if we're going to talk about the uniforms for a second.

How many teams in this league have the same basic color scheme as we do? Red, Black, and White?

Chicago, New Jersey, Ottawa, and Detroit. All of them have a primary uniform set that is home reds. On top of that, you also have Washington, Calgary, Montreal, and Florida with their home uniforms being red, with complimentary blue or black. All are similar to what the Canes do with their red uniforms.

Now, how many teams go with a base uniform that is black?

LA, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, Boston. None of them include a secondary color of red. Not one.

Enter...

Its base black, but that red just absolutely pops. Its a good look that would also have the rare ability to be unique in a league where, through the implementation of the Storm Surge and Bunch of Jerks last year, we are quickly making a name for ourselves as being unique. Go all in on it, make this our full time look and make the white uniform white, black, grey, and that double flag logo for the pop of red on the crest.

And don't abandon the reds. Keep them around as our alternate, but adjust them to show off the flag motif more, and get rid of the sublimated red on red. And if we ever play in an outdoor game, we absolutely need to wear a 2006 throwback.

skip white road sweaters entirely and really throw a wrench in things

Give me a grey/silver away of the same styling of the current black, and I'm down. Though, I'm not sure if we can for when we play at Vegas when they're in their greys. And red as our aways would be a non-starter based on about 1/3 of the league having a base red jersey at home.

No no no. We have to keep wearing them a couple games every year just to piss off Jack Edwards. Save the 2006 throwback for the outdoor game at Carter Finley

I've been a big fan of all of our reds short of the new storm version. I've liked both blacks. I've liked most of our whites, though the current we are moving on from are closer to a meh from me. I'm more than happy to move in the direction of the black jerseys as long as we keep a red alternate. The branding reasons mentioned above are outstanding points.
