Let me preface that I don’t think Guerin will be able to pull off a Rossi trade for a “Star” player. Trade only happens if Guerin and Rossi can’t come to an agreement. This is more…realistic?

To Carolina: Rossi+Spacek
To Minnesota: Kotkaniemi+Nadeau+2025 1st

Spacek just played in the WC, so he’s not complete garbage. He is likely blocked in MN’s system, so he needs a fresh start.

MN gets back a roster player plus prospects, needing Nadeau’s scoring potential, and a late 1st.

Carolina gets back a better center and RHD prospect.

Do both sides get enough in return?

You have to give to get. Minnesota just isn’t going to give away a 23 year old center for scraps.
There are plenty of assets Carolina could give up:
6 first round picks in the next 4 years.
Young NHL player like Blake
Other non-Nadeau prospects (Unger Sorum, perhaps even Artamonov, many D not named Nikishin).

I don't think Nadeau is untouchable, but I think it would have to be for a higher end player than Rossi. And if Carolina is looking at a smaller 2C, they are more likely to look in-house at Jarvis and Stankoven and bring in larger wings this off-season.

Really dislike the fit. Aho, Jarvis, Rossi, Blake and Stankoven is Smurf overload.
It could be the next "thing" down there.

Not thrilled about Kotkaniemi, or the whole deal in general. Just keep Rossi, FFS, unless you get either a similar player back, Guerin! It's not tat f***ing hard! Why let a lousy coach like Hynes, who you'll probably fire sometimes next season, dictate where Rossi plays?

I mean no to that 2025 1st round pick, When wild traded for David J, it was reported they didn't like, want anything to do with this draft. Kot has no value and would just be a contract dump.

Feels like Carolina would be far better off just moving Stankoven back to center.
Moving Stankoven to C (if he can be effective there) would solve a lot of Canes issues. We are kind of jammed up on RW right now. We do need to add size upfront but overall just need to have more high end scoring talent regardless of what they look like.

My point was more that if Carolina wanted an undersized 2C (Rossi), they could move Stankoven to C as he was drafted as a C, plays a tenacious game as well and I don't think he'd be any worse at faceoffs.

He would fit in perfectly on this MN team. Low offensively skilled players like JK are right up Guerins alley lol.
Minnesota is getting two highly skilled offensive players this offseason plus Yurov and Ohgren

BG has been building the bottom six because this was coming. Not hard to figure out

Most the players people use to fuel “the Guerin only like grit and size” narrative (Foligno, Trenin, Hartman) showed up against Vegas. I’m excited to have these guys in bottom 6 roles next fall.

You think Kaprizov cares enough about a Rossi trade that he would force himself to free agency? He probably likes playing with Ek and Boldy more so than Rossi and Zucc.
I think he cares enough about the team being competitive, and I think this trade implies the team would rather collect futures and be less competitive. He might like playing with Ek and Boldy but he probably cares more about playing meaningful games in the spring
