You’ve reached the conference finals twice in the past six years. Not even a final. That’s a lot of success?

...depends on your market and the reliability of your fanbase...Carolina is a small but feverish fanbase who LUV their team, much like Nashville...and the ECF is success, great success and they've done it multiple times in recent memory...that gives that small but voracious fanbase HOPE, which leads to...you guessed it, MORE MONEY, the end game for the OWNER...you don't have to win it all, just be competitive, and THEY WILL COME...Field of Dreams... :biglaugh:

Look at the Canes lineup on paper and tell me that system doesn’t work, or they haven’t had success. Rod has them consistently outplaying their talent.

Taking the next step - that is on management. This idea that you can continually turn over some of your better players and easily find replacements is proving be foolish and my sense is this Rants deal is another in a line of big brain management thinking they know more then other GM’s.

And are they ever going to upgrade at C? They have three, 30 point C’s after Aho. I hate when posters say “you can’t win a Cup” with this, or that, but KK as your #2 seems like a stretch for a contender.

No need to overthink this, the obvious play here was Miller. Exact type of player that would thrive in Rod’s system, physical PPG C, super competitive, decent to good cap hit. They instantly become a Cup contender.
