GDT: Carolina Hurricanes 3, Los Angeles Kings 2 (Final)

Best I have seen Carolina play all year so far, they are boxing out the Kings well. Crisp passes everywhere, using speed.

Looks like they saved the best game of the year so far for the Kings.
 
Losing 1 - 0 to the worst team in the league? Who cares! We made it an entire first period without a penalty! Its party time.

In case the Kings lose, I'm glad Carolina has already gotten their first win. Also, really happy to see both Kopitar and Gaborik!

Every team that has beaten us has said it was their best game of the year. Teams are scouting us and circling us on their calendars. On one hand, it's flattering. On another, i ****ing hate hockey right now.

Just need everyone to start executing again but I guess getting people back in the lineup is a nice start

I have no idea whether Muzzin is healthy or not so I wont comment on that. As far as the doctors clearing them thing goes...In college I worked with the strength coach at a DI school. I know of several times some athletes were cleared by the doctor to play football and basketball when they probably weren't really healthy enough. For big name players there is a lot of pressure to field them and that can influence the team doctors. Not to mention a lot of athletes see themselves as nearly indestructible and want to play whenever possible, especially if they have a shot at going pro. Most athletes at the college & pro level are playing with a couple nagging injuries and at some point it becomes a grey area. And that was at the college level. I don't know about hockey team doctors but I can only imagine the pressure is even greater in pro sport so it wouldn't surprise me if doctors cleared guys to play when they probably shouldn't. Having to be cleared by the team doctor may not mean as much as we'd hope it would.

They are getting healthy again. Still a bad team, but not as bad as their record indicates.
 
Looks like we're gaining momentum. We're only down by 1 going into the 2nd. :laugh:
