Right, Justin Peters's 14 games this year is a small sample size, but Khudobin with his 20 career games over 3 years is much better.

It's real simple: This play from Peters is the longest stretch of competent backup goaltending we've had since...Ward in 06. He might keep it up, he might not.

But I'd rather not risk the only sign of competent backup goaltending in almost a decade for the chance that Khudobin might replicate Peter's success so far.

Now, like I said, if the difference in return is minimal, keep Khudobin. But if the difference is noticeable? Peters it is.
is this really considered "back-up goaltending"? starting, what, 14 games out of 18 (too lazy to look up stats)? is peters really going to look good coming off the bench after ward starts X games in a row?

and again, we had the longest stretch of terrible back-up goaltending last season from peters since we've had....ever.

are we really going to let peters trick us again? he had a good stretch in 09-10 which led us to hand him the back-up job, then he blew the next season. he had a good stretch in 11-12 which led us to give him a one-way contract, then blew the next season.

all people are saying is that khudobin doesn't have the long track record of failure. peters wasn't even a .900sv% guy coming into this season.

hmm

No problem. I am more of a lurker than a poster. :)

Sometimes you win because of your goalie. Sometimes you win in spite of your goalie. I don't condemn Peters necessarily for the goals he allowed... more for the goals he COULD have allowed based on the juicy rebounds. We were just lucky that we were a step faster as a team last night.

I agree it is a good problem to have. In a perfect world I think we keep Pete Dawg and ship Anton (for the bigger return). Can Cam stay healthy enough to limit Peters' starts?
Thats the 10,000 dollar question..

well

How anyone thought Peters didn't look terrible tonight is beyond me, particularly the guy that said "How much hockey have you watched???". Those 2 odd man rush saves he made were huge though, so I'll give him credit there. Nashville is just not good (at least last night). That game could have gotten out of hand if they had any sustained pressure. Peters was on the verge of getting chased, they just couldn't finish it.

Still not seeing much "chemistry" with EStaal and Skinner, but hell if I'd want to see that line broken up at this point. Seems like Skinner always plays well with Ruutu and Ruutu always plays well with Eric, so let it ride. I absolutely love watching Jordan play. Really hoping Gerbe finds somewhere comfortable, he's looked a bit lost out there lately.
That was me, i guess i meant to say have you watched the whole pieces of peters games, i should have been more specific..And ddint mean to sound, well.. sarcastic..

I think I was just confused as to why you think Peters played well, and why you were saying a goal that was partially deflected that he saw the whole way and one that was a routine stop and cover that he coughed up in sad fashion were not his fault. Couple that with his poor puck play and continued trampoline body, I'm not sure what anyone sees other than the W's. Unless you were being completely sarcastic and you leveled me into complete confusion. :skeptic:

And I'm saying Khudobin doesn't have a long track record of...anything. Because he's been bounced back and forth between the AHL and the NHL since 07-08 and has a grand total of 24 NHL games after 6 years and 3 NHL teams.

Yes, Peters could fall back down to Earth. Khudobin could do the same thing. However, in order to do that, Khudobin needs to reach the level Peters is currently at in the first place.
