This was a game they needed to win. They all are.

Realistically we know they aren't going to win much more than half of their games, if that.

But this one really hurts because of what it did to the standings.

But they also haven't beaten Columbus in Columbus in 9 years, and saw no reason to stop that trend last night!

This team is still Charmin soft.

This was a game where we NEEDED Eric Staal to show up. He's your captain, and the HAS to be the best player on the ice. We need bull-in-a-China shop Eric. Instead, half the games we get the Lazy, couldn't care less Eric, and then in half of the other games we get this Eric, who is completely invisible on the ice.

I remember in December of 2011, we played against the Coyotes. A terrible game, like this one. And afterwards, Eric stepped up and took the blame himself for that awful game:

"I need to play better. All of my critics are completely right: I'm a lazy selfish POS and I, completely and utterly alone, decide whenever I have 3 point nights or not, making me the greatest, most unique hockey player ever.

If only I weren't so lazy.

And then the next game he may or may not have done something, I'm not sure. But the point is, if we are going to win, Eric Staal HAS to show up. I'm almost convinced that he wasn't actually on the ice last night.:shakehead:help: Good job Captain!!!

I hate to be the one who breaks this to you but Eric didn't even play. You know, based on your analysis I would say you should look into a career as a sports play by play commentator....

No team would have scored on that goalie last night.

Not sure if serious....

Think you may need a sarcasm detector or if you were serious that makes me sad for you...

Just face it. Eric didn't play well last night and wasn't a leader on the ice. Tired of the Eric apologists.

If he's injured he really needs to take some time off and heal properly. Maybe get a nanny for the kids so he can get some rest if that's the problem as well.

There are only two kinds of posters that truly disgust me on HFBoards: those who are intolerant of other peoples' opinions', and Eric Staal apologists. :madfire:

Not sure what to make of all these angry E. Staal posts. Did not see the game, so I can't say for sure, but he is still listed as injured, is not listed on last nights roster, and most significantly had no penalties, making me believe the previous poster that said he was not even in last nights game? If true, that's all pretty harsh of y'all!

Personally, I think a player actually needs to be IN a game to play bad. Call me crazy.

The bottom line is, we are paying Eric Staal 9 million dollars this season, and what did he do last night?

Nothing, that's what. That's why we lost. If he had scored 4 goals like we all know he could do at any moment if he just started TRYING, we would have won. Absolutely classless.

Yeah, Eric may not have scored last night, but remember that one game against Dallas a couple years ago? He scored on that breakaway in the 3rd to make it 5-1 Dallas. Therefore, he was the only one to put forth an effort that game and should be given a pass on games like this one for the next indeterminable amount of time.

Plus, injury/baby/his brothers/jealousy/Olympics/coach/LaRose prevented him from having a good game last night, so it's not his fault. Also, he still leads the team in points, so your criticism is unfounded.

Well, I have to disagree. I think he did pretty well for not being in the game. It could have been much worse if took a lot of penalties or something. I would at least classify it as a wash.

Fact: Eric "the captain" Stall has recorded 0 shots on goal, 0 hits, and won a grand total of 0 faceoffs the last three games. And you wonder why wise man Stevie Y left him off team Canada.

The numbers don't lie.

Well, maybe his injury will allow someone else to lead the league in minor penalties for a while.
