Lol. What team would be stupid enough to trade valuable cap space and picks for Kassian? He’s got negative value.

Barrie probably carries no value. So Barrie to Arizona for a 39 year old AHL 3rd string goalie may work for Arizona. It’s definitely a win for Edmonton.

Rasmus Ristolainen was considered to be a cap dump on here for a long time. How did that work out?

Barrie will get a positive asset, regardless of what the armchair GMs on this site think.

The entire league knows he is absolutely cooked.

Carlo + DeBrusk would require a return of Puljujarvi and a 1st minimum

Would a package including Barrie, Kassian + work?

Barrie has played better since the coaching change, but we've got Bouchard ready to take the mantle and we need a more defensive presence on the right side.

Kassian is the prototypical Bruin. Mean, nasty, aggressive. He's got speed. He needs a change of scenery though.

Salaries are pretty much a wash here.
Yeah 2 thirty year old's for for 2 twenty five year old's and one of them scored 25 goals this year....................

Kassian holds little value but teams who need toughness will be interested. I could see the Ducks after him.

Barrie holds value. Only 4.5M for a guy who can run a powerplay and put up 40 - 50 points from the blueline. That's not valueless.

Hyman and Ceci, assuming Hyman can play the right side.
That's nearly as lopsided as the OP but in the other direction. Cody Ceci had been stellar all year.

I’m not sure which of the EDM assets you are overrating.
We probably just don't really want what is being discussed here. It's a weird offer. The value isn't close for Boston, but the parts aren't really what Edmonton is after either.

The same team that would give up valuable cap space for JTC! ;)
JT Compher is at least now a rental. Last year of his deal. So it’s not apples to apples.

It’s the same and only reason the Habs may be able to trade the awful Drouin contract.

JTC had a much better season than Drouin and he’s at an AAV $2mm less than Jon boy.

A bad defender that puts up points with Mcdavid and Drai. He’s overpaid for what little he’d bring to teams like LA or Anaheim.

I don’t believe Boston would have interest in that at all. You have a D that is very good defensively, huge, and can skate. He can play the #2-3 spots but is the perfect rock solid defender for a 2nd pairing and the PK. That’s what Carlo brings most of the time.

Then they are also giving up a guy who can score 20+ goals in DeBrusk who at times seems like he is just now becoming the player he can be.

I would imagine you would have to give up something that really hurts to get these guys in a deal together.

I watched him play most of his career. I’m an Avs fan. Barrie is terrible defensively. Absolutely terrible in his zone.
Yes he is. And he's absolutely amazing on the powerplay and in the attacking zone. Finding someone with his offensive abilities is far more difficult than finding him a partner to cover his deficiencies.

If Barrie was good defensively, he would be a $7M top pair defenseman that could be played in every scenario. He's not, which is why he is paid less than that, and why he has to be used correctly. But when he's used correctly, you get a top tier offensive defenseman and powerplay specialist for a fraction of the cost.

Something around a Puljujarvi + Barrie for DeBrusk and Carlo would be closer to fair.
Please Debrusk has improved his play but he won’t get you Puljijarvi Barrie and Carlo is a wash depending what a team wants more offence or a ship it down dman. Pplus Debrusk has an expensive qualifier than Puljularvi. As an EDM fan No than you I would rather go after Mayfield from NYI.

Yikes. I don’t even know where to start with this tire fire of a post. Maybe I’ll start with the obvious indisputable fact that DeBrusk doesn’t have a qualifying offer because he has a two year deal.

If we had the cap space I would trade Pulujarvi for Debrusk. But we don't.
