he has been good. like i said the Rangers are a much faster team with Kreider and Hagelin in the lineup... it would be nice if they can get another fast forward and another fast dman before the deadline, someone with some snarl as well..

Who would they replace in the forward lineup ? Especially when Cally returns.
That being said, Hagelin has been a pleasure to watch.. He just shifted gear and skated away from the Buffalo D several times last night, was awesome

Hagelin is such an effective player. He brings speed and good awareness. he is not a big scorer but he can score and pass the puck well. He is very good on the PK

Hagelin is the most underrated/unappreciated NYR forward by far. He changed the entire dynamic of this team in 2011/2012 and with him in the lineup we're so much more effective. He can score (Anyone see his passing? Did his hands of stone break free or something?), he's really not soft, he can take Taylor Pyatt off the PK finally, and dear lord he looks faster than ever. So glad to have him back.
Hagelin could play with a broomstick and still be an effective player. His speed is a major disruption for most opposing teams.

I've noticed that about him during his NYR career, for a guy that's only 5' 11" he's incredibly hard to knock off the puck. He also avoids a lot of other players with ease. It's a great asset to have.

hags always competes. same when he was at mich, he was just a reliable, hard working guy in the ryan callahan mold but with way more speed. as a 6th rounder, hes been a flat out steal.
having said that, his hands are still so-so and hes never gonna be a bigtime scorer per say. he should be no where near a top line or first pp unit, but he will earn his paycheck on the pk and 5on5 every night and with his speed and tenacity, he will be a contributer every shift.

He said he's feeling better than ever since the shoulder surgery. His shoulder has been bothering him since college. I heard this on the FAN the other day.

Somewhat unique, in that he has a ton of speed and stamina,, but has enough skill to make him fit in a top 6 role.
Teams need players like Hagelin, and we're lucky to have him. Another NCAA success story for this team to add to Stepan, McDonagh, Boyle, and hopefully eventually Kreider, Talbot, and Allen.

My one complaint with Hagelin is he needs to work on his shooting. Other than that he's been great. We are a better team when he's on the ice. He's got speed for days.

I think we missed Hagelin a lot more than most of us thought we were going to. His speed on the forecheck puts a ton of pressure on opposing teams defenses. I have seen opposing teams turn the puck over in the neutral zone much more often since Hagelin has been back and Kreider has been added. Those turn overs lead to chances and we start scoring more goals.
Hagelin is the type of guy who may be a solid 40-45 point guy throughout his career but, the value and offense he brings goes way beyond the score sheet. His speed will always make life tougher for opposing defensemen.

I can see the removal of the "player discussion" tag thing is going well 
THe most important thing for our lineup right now imo (for consistency and 3rd/4th line scoring) is to push our 3rd and 4th line guys back down to.... the 3rd and 4th line. Ever since Hagelin has been back, Pyatt hasn't been atrocious and neither have we really seen Boyle as much as we used to. All we need to be completely out matched it to put up 4 lines that are all inferior to our opponent's lines and with Haggy back, we don't have to deal with penalties caused by guys that can't skate with the likes of 2nd line guys.

I was thinking about that... why don't we just have a "shooting practice" one day you know... Bring Marty Biron in to be a scapegoat in net and just have the guys get used to shooting effectively and transferring that skill, mentality, and habit to games. With our shooting percentage the way it is, worst in the league, it doesn't look like some guys are actually trying to place the puck when they have the time and space to.

Just like Cally is a catalyst.
They both do it in different ways, but this team is way, way better off when both are in the line up.

Easily one of my favorite players on the team. Fun to watch play and very effective at what he does.

I really thought losing Hagelin wouldn't be that big of a deal. He is a difference maker. But his speed makes every defenseman think twice whether they can catch up with him. Now with both Kreider and Hagelin on two different lines, each team has to be careful not to get caught daydreaming because these two will kill with their speed.
The other thing is the penalty kill. My god Pyatt is extremely slow, I can't believe he is on the PK. Hagelin gives that added dimension. With Stepan, Hagelin, Boyle, and Dorsett potentially on the PK, with Callahan coming back soon with Moore, this unit looks a lot better then it did a week ago, although I still have no idea why Zucc is on the PK.

Hagelin has been passing the puck really well too since his return. He was making some nice plays last night.
One thing I enjoyed seeing in the game against Buffalo was the Rangers' willingness to make plays from behind the net. It's a good way to get defenses off their game by making them turn around and look behind them.

I think that the key here is that you can't make plays from behind the net if you have no one in front of the net.
The team as a whole over the last 4-5 games has been alot more committed to going to the front of the net which is so needed if you are going to score in the NHL today.
Pouliot's winner the other night had a Ranger going to the front causing a distraction.
Kreider's goal on the PP was also a front of the net situation.
McDonagh's PP tally, someone was in front.
Brassard last night, Miller was screening Miller.
Even Kreider's goal last night, Richards wqas RIGHT there and if the puck doesn't go off Miller's skate, maybe Richards punches it in.
What I like about Hagelin is that he uses his speed behind the net to take the puck out front. We are seeing that his work rate back there and desire to get it in front is causing all sorts of issues with opposing defenceman. The fact that he is so fast means that he's going to draw alot of PP's because while he's not BIG, he's solid and fast and that causes d-men to grab and hold.
The Sharks have been humming along very well without Torres. Maybe we can snag Torres from them?
Would be nice.
