Hagelins one of the most important players on this team...its amazing how few people realize this. he's right up there with Stepan, McDonagh and Lundqvist.

Hagelin is the spark plug for this team. His speed is an X-factor. Even without it, he'd probably still be a serviceable NHL'er because hes so well-schooled.

That said, hes probably a 3rd liner on a championship squad.

You and a lot of people put championship squads in a box. Like every championship squad follows the same formula. Believe it or not in the cap era all teams have holes. If Hagelin is your hole you're doing fine.

I agree man and to be honest with you I don't think a guy like Hagelin has a "line". Whoever he's with, he's the catalyst and that line tends to be our best line. If anything he allows the skill to be spread throughout the lineup.

he's our best forward and he's playing in a system that is going to maximize his best qualities

most valuable forward to the team imo. we'll always have at least one effective line a night.

either way, we're set when healthy. maybe they move a young guy (miller, fast) and prospect / pick to bring in another trigger man for the top-6, but i think they'll be fine if nash comes back.

If millers playing on the second like when were healthy there's a problem and if he's playing on the third it's a waste, also no way Dorsett sits for him or maybe even pouliot. Say what you want about the occasional dumb penalties but he has been effective in his role on this team, he's possessed the puck well and has been strong on the luck behind the net and let to a bunch of chances.

Hagelin is noticeable every shift, plays defense, and is amazing behind the net. In order to be a premier forward, you need to contribute on the score sheet and he'd done that this year. It's a small sample but if he was at PPG for the whole year, he'd be our best forward and probably a top 5 winger in the league. We would extremely fortunate to have that happen. I'm more than okay with 50 points a year with his energy, that's a top-of-the-line 2nd liner.

Hagelin's second biggest quality besides his speed is the ability to be moved up and down the lineup.

He is one of our most versatile players. He could be with Richards on the 1st line, or provide a spark on the 3rd line.

Come on guys we all know Hagelin is the 3rd most overrated player in the NHL :sarcasm:

I love watching him and Kreider with their speed. Create so many opportunities and Hagelin goes to work in the corners and behind the net. Love the spark he brings.

Speed kills and Hags has plenty of it. He changes the dynamic of this team. He also strikes me as a guy that will constantly be underrated. Some players are just like that.

hard to under-estimate Hagelin's impact on the NYR. I really feel like his insertion into the line-up and Talbot's outstanding first games where major factors in waking this team up

it isnt just hagelins speed, its his agility that kills the other teams...his quick starts and stops and turns are just frustrating to handle...hes an incredible board player for a player his size..he should get dominated on there, but its usually the opposite, he does the dominating.

Has Hagelin taken that next step to be a first line player?

Last year he started out playing in Europe during the lockout, and was absolutely tearing it up. Then he hurt his shoulder, and played through the entire shortened season with it, maintaining his elite speed but being streaky in the points department.

Now that he is healthy, it appears that he is putting it all together. Loving what I am seeing from him, and hoping he can shake the streakiness that has followed him during his short tenure in the NHL...

Hags could turn into a Straka-like player. With worse hands, but better around the net.

Last season when Hagelin recorded a point, the Rangers went 14-2-1, when he scored a goal they were 8-1-1 and when he tallied at least two points, they were 5-0-1.

Just read this on NHL.com. Wow never realized just how much of a difference maker he is.

Hags is money. Great hard worker, never stops skating. Not the best hands, but his motor makes up for any short comings he may have
