Carl Hagelin

I also do have to note that Hagelin is the perfect compliment to Nash. Both skate well, Nash drives hard to the net, Hagelin is speedy and can get into the holes he creates. They seem to feed off of eachother well. In theory, Stepan should do well with those guys.
 
Him and Nash are the Rangers' best forwards right now.

Hagelin has definitely worked on his puck handling skills. I've been touting his passing since last year, and people kept telling me that he wasn't anything special in that regard. Now that he can actually carry the puck over the blueline himself, he's showing his exceptional vision and smarts. He has some serious upside as a playmaking winger.

I think if we can get Richards going, he eventually replaces Stepan at Center on that line. Hagelin and Nash are the perfect players for his playmaking style. Two gritty, fast, skilled players. I don't think Richie is going to stay at this level of play. He was the same way last season and really picked it up after the All Star break.

Back to Hagelin, though... He's been fantastic. Flying, creating chances, hitting, blocking shots, you name it.Really impressed. Hoping he can become a 20 goal/50-60 point guy for us on the second line for years to come. Like what I see.

I was talking about hagelin. He said nobody was good offensively and i mentioned he was good in the playoffs thats all. I dont have an agenda
 
I know Hags and Nash are playing really well together and I love their synergy but I think Hagelin might be the guy to get some energy back onto the Gaborik-Richards line, he might get some impetus back into their game. I remember Gabby-Richards-Hagelin was quite an effective line for us last season.

I would run these lines in our next game;

Nash- Stepan - Callahan
Hagelin - Richards - Gaborik
Pyatt - Boyle - Miller
Asham - Halpern - Powe

Don't like Stepan and Callahan, they don't play well together.

Step and Cally don't work well together. Not the gelling or lack thereof I'm looking for in a first line.

Why split Nash and Hags when that is working well.
 
Hagelin has been the team's best forward, except for Nash. He's showing to be more than the projected 3rd line winger. I think there was another guy like that on this team. He's a top 6 forward and the captain. Just goes to show you cannot get to enamored in projections and look at what the player can do when they get to the NHL.

This also shows the NCAA route is good, and could be better for the lower drafted players. It gives him more time at a lower than AHL level to get his game going. Hags spending 4 years in Michigan really aided his development. I wish more players would go the college route. Juniors is great, but NCAA hockey can be better.

I think going towards high end players committing to NCAA hockey is a good move. Looks like the Rangers feel the same way with recent draft choices. NCAA and SEL. Not many Major Junior Prospects.

Just a suggestion to help energize the Richards line.

I have admitted that I like how well Nash and Hagelin compliment each other. I think Nash improves his linemates so I cannot see the move having a detrimental effect on his game.

Hagelin also played on the Richards-Gaborik line last season and it was one of our better lines. He will do a lot of the hard work we don't get from Gaborik, and win alot of pucks. which should improve the production of that line.

Kreider/Boyle - Miller - Cally
Powe - Halpern - Asham

Gborik played well with Stepan last season, lets trade back for anisimov :)
 
Haven't been on here to long, what did you guys expect out of Hagelin when he was a prospect? I'm from Södertälje, saw him play a little bit as a junior But mainly his brother, if memory serves me right his brother Bobby(?) was quite good

Most who saw him at Michigan felt he could be a solid energy line player who could kill penalties as well. Personally, I didn't expect this kind of offense from him at this level.

Ok, cool when a hometown guy performs like him. Hard to follow american collegehockey from sweden but from what i hear he had a good run i michigan. Hope he can keep this level of play

I remember thinking he'd be a smart, hardworking player who didn't have a ton of scoring talent, but would be a good leader and an energy guy on the bottom 6. His play the past few games is definitely above what I expected from him and I'm really happy to see it.
 
Hags is a clear example of mind set over skill set. Never gives up. Does not wait for the game to come to him. Uses his speed to generate relentless puck pursuit and make the game revolve around him. He's never going to score pretty goals, but he'll be a Ranger that the opposition has to spend a lot of time marking and reacting to.

Incremental improvements in shooting and passing could make him a solid 50 - 60 point player, imo.
 
Patience.
You look at a guy like Hagelin. He learned under Red Berenson, and he plays a great game. He is rewarding the Rangers now, and I fully believe he will continue to do that in future.

It makes me happy to see some blazing, unadulterated speed getting back into the Rangers. We watch and play hockey for excitement, and thank the heavens for Hagelin. I'd like to see Kreider find his stride too.

OK, i might know him, if he works in hockey i definitely have friends who know him. It's a nice place to live and play hockey, SSK is having a good season this year, will be fun to watch some playoff hockey once more.

Ha ha i'm kind of starting to understand the "madhouse" metaphor with the Brad Richards thread, the Brian Boyle thread and the season expectations...

Im guessing the attitude in here is quite infectious :naughty:

back to topic: Let's see how he does without Nash tonight (if he's out) as long as he uses his speed he'll be effective!
