He is really putting his speed to good use out there. He was everywhere last night and won a tonne of battles.

Torts was just pissed over the too many men penalty and the ensuing Flyers goal.

Hagelin had a good game before that and a great 3rd period after that.

I thought he and Boyle were excellent on the PK, and I really like the smarts Hagelin brings to the 3rd line. Unfortunately, he wont be there with the Kreider and Callahan issues.

Hagelin has taken a lot of bad penalties this season.

Come on, guys. I don't want to hear how great he was. He's been atrocious all year.

He still has ZERO points. I don't want to hear "the goals will come". Yeah, well, tell me when they do.

AND that penalty was moronic.

You'll excuse me if I don't jump for joy.

Why even watch the games when you can just look at the stats sheet afterwards?

Yeah good one...

I watch every game. I've been watching every game since before you were born, most likely. Take that crap somewhere else.

He looked better, but it's one game...and still zero points (and a terrible penalty).

He's been disgusting all year.

yup... all year.... all 5 games of it....

All 6 games, yes. So (on a message board) are people not allowed to critique someone who has sucked to open the season?

We usually just don't after they've had their best game of the season and looked like their old selves for once. Usually, we try to be optimistic and hope it's a sign they're getting back into stride, especially when a different player is going to be sitting out for a while and it would be the perfect time for that player TO get back in stride. But being that it's a message board that's open to the public and all opinions, you can be as big of a negative nancy as you want.

sure, but given that it's 6g into his second year during a shortened season after a long lockout with virtually no camp and no preseason.... I'd say that's a bit premature. To make matters worse we have the Ahole coach calling him out publicly.

I'm more concerned with Stepan at this point. Hagelin should have a role on the third line right now, no more...

I'm a realist. He's been a joke. Call me when he does something that matters or doesn't have a game where he puts his team in jeopardy of losing a point (or 2) by taking a moronic penalty.

But hey, you enjoy those rose-colored glasses.

A-hole coach? That "A-hole coach" has a Stanley Cup ring. What does Hagelin have? I LOVE that he called him out. He's young, and I'm not saying he doesn't have a bright future, but he needs to be better (and smarter).

Seriously, a guy has a good game and he can't be praised. He's had a slow first few games. He's a young raw 6th rounder. Give him a break. Maybe you should read your handle.

He played a great game after a slow start, sans one penalty. If you can **** on him for the first 5 games, why can't we praise him for a (mostly) very good game?

No one's wearing rose colored glasses. Hagelin played better last night. We're hopeful that he will continue to do so, as we know he is a capable of playing better than he has. Are there any posts in this thread that say "lay off of Hagelin, he's been great all season"? Because that would be rose colored glasses. Saying he played a better game last night is ... reality. Amazing how a self-proclaimed realist can't see that. I guess that's why giving yourself a title is pretty meaningless.

Yes I noticed he's starting to play much better, too. He was one of the best forwards last night for sure.

Btw, here's that PK sequence after watching it again myself I had to upload it.

wow....

I didn't know realist was a synonym for bitter *****. No one's wearing rose colored glasses. Hagelin played better last night. Yes, I'm a realist. He's been terrible, so far. Is this incorrect?

Again, call me when he has a game where he doesn't take a ridiculous penalty, and I'll be the first to sing his praises. Until then, you can call me all the names you want, if that makes you more comfortable.

Damn, I can't quote Krei for some reason. Anyway, the guy played an excellent game and made one mistake. A whole bunch of players took bad penalties in this game. The Flyers just happened to score on that one.

It's because I have a force-field installed on my profile, shielding my posts from any criticism. It requires a fairly substantial donation to HF Boards. haha

What a game from Hagelin. He obviously needs to improve his end product but he did so many things well last night. He is obviously a bit snake bit still but he was one of the best Rangers last night. He seems to constantly improve and add small elements to his game, which I think will help him have an excellent career.

I trust Torts with his mental games.

What's annoying me is that Hagelin can't put one home. He seems to be in the mode now that if he got going he could all of a sudden go red-hot. We could need that.

It shows how bad HAGS has been this year (and even parts of last year) that he gets the "played well" praise for hard work, fast skating and forechecking (which he should be doing every period) not for scoring or making plays that lead to goals....OTOH, he truly has looked better the past 4 periods or so and you gotta hope it eventuially translates to SOMETHING tangible......As it stands, right now he reminds of a Gene Carr-marcel Hossa hybrid....Can skate, Can forecheck, can even grind a little behind the net but, as The Big Whistle said, couldn't put the puck in the ocean off the end of the pier..Let's hope all this changes becasue he is crucial to the team's success this year---the Rangers counted on both him and Krieder from the onset ( a mistake)--especially if Cally is out for a time period....

He sucked 4 games and played well 2 games. That's not all year at all, is it? If you play well and work hard, the points will eventually come too. If you've watched every rangers game for more than 27 years, you should know this.

You base your arguments solely on point production and on 1 (ONE!) single stupid penalty.
