Was at the game, kid was all over the place tonight. He made things happen. Really good game from Hags tonight. Especially on the PK.

This is nice to see. I was about to come on and ask what you guys think the rest of his season will be like. Offensive production?

Torts: ".....I focused on the dumbness of Hagelin."

The Torts dog house. Not a good place to be. Hags better get on his jets and get outa there quick.

Hagelin barely missed getting his first goal of the season tonight.
Please do not say that I am hallucinating when I say that he will be a big part of the Rangers success.
He is still fresh, still learning the game. The Rangers have gotten better over the offseason. Hagelin is getting better all the time.

If your goals do not target a level of competency that is well above your present capabilities, you are not growing.

He's a very interesting player.

All Tort's humorous frustration aside, he looks like a very smart player to me. When he's playing well he's making things happen, but he's gotta start putting those chances he creates in the back of the net.

He could either become the very useful player that nets 10-15 goals a year and drives teams crazy on the forecheck and the PK. Or he puts it all together and becomes a consistent producer as well.

I'm betting on the latter. Works too hard and is too smart for it to be other wise. Solid 50 - 60 pt player. Kind of a Zetterberg lite. Very good for a late rounder.

Yes I noticed he's starting to play much better, too. He was one of the best forwards last night for sure.

Btw, here's that PK sequence after watching it again myself I had to upload it.

Think of how rubbery those legs were. The PK was out there forever.
There was a bit of luck involved in that one. The Flyers did not look all that good on their powerplay either.

The thing about Hags is that he's a guy that isn't someone I would draft in fantasy hockey. He's a guy that has a decent shot and decent passing skills, but his game is energy. I have a feeling throughout his career he'll have some good seasons scoring and some not so good. He may be not less effective when he doesn't score. Scoring is not really the most important part of his game. There are far better options on the Rangers if you want consistent scoring. Although even guys like Cally and Stepan who are second liners haven't been scoring that much this year. Right now the best options on the Rangers for fantasy hockey are our first line (Gabby, Richards, and Nash) and Del Zotto.

I love Torts but sometimes he's a blind fool. Hagelin has been dumb, absolutely, but if all Torts took from last night were individual moments where he may have made a bad decision than he's displaying that blindness in this case because I saw Hagelin clearly showing improvement and looking like his old self and he was very noticeable in a good way. If Torts didn't notice it's simply because Torts has decided he's not ready to let Hagelin out of the dog house. I was really happy with Hags last night.

ya he had a good game but he needs so show more because his last game that was good was back in the regular season of last year

I understand that Tortorella wants players like Hagelin and Krieder to play responsible 2-way games, but he needs to calm Down! No camp, preseason... Cut these guys some slack and show some grace here!

You've got to allow young players some room to make mistakes. We need both of these players contributing this season

It's not the first "too many players on the ice" penalty our team has gotten so far....

Hags just happened to be the one who caused it now...

I agree with the Hagelin assessment.

I also think that Stepan had a very solid game as well.

They keep playing like they did last night, the results will come in terms of points.

Most to many men penalties are the result of the bench and not the players.

he gets a pass from me on that one. Could be a scape goat there.

Hagelin may not have scored any points yet, but his possession numbers have been fantastic.

His relative Corsi is +15.2, by far the best on the team, and he has done this against a QoC of 6.492; the most difficult minutes on the team. The reason he isn't putting up points is an unsustainable .0196 on-ice shooting %. We should also remember his snipe against Boston that would've won the game if not for ridiculous reffing.

Hagelin may not be the flashiest player, but he is tremendous at creating offensive pressure through his speed, tenacity and smartness.
