Feel free to move this thread if something already exists, but curious to see everyone’s feelings regarding Carey and the likelihood he gets his jersey retired by the Canadiens organization.
I understand that the standard has always been Stanley Cups, but I think we need to realize this isn’t the 60s and 70s anymore. I don’t believe there has been any player on the Canadiens who has had a greater impact on the organization than Carey has in the past 30-40 years. Isn’t that what it’s all about? In my opinion, no other player will ever wear #31 for the Habs ever again.
He’s been my favorite player and always will be. I hope he is healthy and happy at home, and I for one hope he gets his day at the Bell Centre to have his jersey retired and we can give him a proper send off that he never received. It may very well be the longest and loudest ovation in Habs history, and that’s saying something.
I’m hopeful when his contract is over there is room for him to join our organization in a professional capacity and help build our team for the future.
