Troll thread is real. Somebody on the habs board said (as a joke) yesterday in the GDT, quote :

"Someone go to the main board and ask for Price value"

shortly after Montoya's shutout. Looks like someone took this a bit too seriously.

Btw trading Price now would be pretty stupid since he has less than 2 years left on his contract.

You've got me. :sarcasm:

I'd say a trade of Carey Price would look something like:

Top 6 fwd
Top 4 d
Prospect or pick in the 15-30 range
maybe some extra later picks

BUT BUT Price is the Habs.Without Price the Habs can't win a game.

truth be told, they better start playing games from the first damn period. The players are so unmotivated for whatever reason until the third period where they dominate.

Having someone like Price genuinely turns any team into threats/contenders (at least for the next 5-6 years).

I bet you anything that if MTL were to offer Price for Matthews (TOR), Babcock would think long and hard about it and could perhaps pull the trigger. Matthews is obviously a HUGE deal for Toronto, but Babcock knows that Matthews won't steal games like Price does - and he loves Price (having used him at the Olympics/WC, etc). While you can build a team around Matthews, it's not the same as building it around the best goalie in the world.

The only trade value I see fair for MTL to trade Price is a very good goalie in return with a nice + (high-end prospect/top 6F/top 4D).

Considering his past injuries, I could see some teams try to bring the trade down, but MTL would never trade Price away for something stupid like what I've just read in this thread. Schneider was traded for a 9OA when he was still pretty much not a sure-thing, and boy do the Canucks ever regret it.

When healthy quick for price no adds because price has 2 years left and will be getting alot more money habs get a good goalie who is locked in for a good price for long term

damn... that would be the most sad day in the Habs 100+ years of existence.

I think Babcock would have a real tough time pulling the trigger on that trade. He may have to run it by his general manager first.

You have a point, but I'm sure Lou consults Babcock on all trades involving their roster.

I'm sure he does, but at the end of the day, Babcock doesn't make those decisions. His voice is just one of many, with the final call going to Lou.

One wins regular season games, one wins Cups. A lot closer than you think but Price is currently the better goalie.

Quick won one Cup, his team carried him to the other.

Quick isn't a top-10 goalie, Price is miles ahead of him and it's not remotely close.

Price is the single most dominant player in the NHL.

His value right now to MTL can be gauged roughly around what McDavid would garner but has more impact in winning games so..
