I still think that was horseshit.

He doesn't get paid if he doesn't report.

I'm not giving up $8 million because I'm mad at my former boss.

FWIW my guess is there's somewhere between 85-90% chance if Jacob gets traded that he reports however grudgingly. Keep in mind however he's not been paid like he was some kind of schoolteacher or retail salesman all these years. According to puckpedia he has $64 million dollars worth of career earnings accrued already. $8 million looks like an awful lot at least to most of us. it might not look like so much to him or maybe not enough where he's going to upset any bit of the rest of his life. His wife also has a fancy job. They can get by with or without hockey in their lives. That said I really don't buy this art thing of his. That IMO all revolves around his celebrity as a hockey player. Dressing up in a hockey uniform covered in paint and taking a leap at a clean canvas might work one f***ing time or might work all the time if you're an MSG suit and don't know any better. If that's your only idea you're not a real artist though. If I were him I wouldn't quit and think that's going to earn me a lot. Just saying.

We bought out Lundqvist. It's not personal, it's business.

Lundqvist was different I think. He was 39. The heir apparent was in the building and outplaying him. And they weren't going to have 3 goalies on the team that was rebuilding.

Kreider is still a very good player who plays in all situations. You can shift him to a different line at 5v5, but he's still very effective on special teams. And this isn't a rebuilding team. He's going to be a victim of circumstance and it sucks. I'm sorry, but it sucks.

I think the main problem I have with the tea leaves is it sounds like Kreider/Trouba are on the chopping block but Lindgren is safe.

In the case of Kreider, it's like having a bruise, a pretty bad bruise that may be more serious that it appears but we don't really know the severity of it and are choosing the amputate the limb, but with Lindgren we know we have a stage 4 tumor and are choosing to keep it around

It just sucks that the homegrown Kreider is going to have to pay the price because other players who haven't meant shit to the organization by comparison can't be moved.
I Agree and disagree, i don't think he should be the one to go ideally, but imo he hasn't grabbed the bull by the horns here and gave anything more than a mediocre effort all year, his 0 assists are glaring. Maybe the team feels leadership is letting the team down and want this team to be turned over to the Lafreniere's and Cuylle's of the team. With Kreider and trouba in the room the culture is unlikely to change.

I think Drury probably deserves a chance at least. Building a contender from the remnants of The Letter was doomed during Gorton's time. I come back to a few things:

-They didn't prioritize speed and skill with those 2017-2020 or so picks, which we've gotten almost nothing out of, not counting automatics like Lafreniere.
-As soon as they put a few good pieces together they tried to accelerate the rebuild and chained a bunch of cap space to a B+ core.
-They never made an aggressive play at a 1C, which they kind of needed to. They just hitched the wagon to Zibanejad, and if you were going to accelerate the rebuild, he wasn't it.
-In general, they haven't prioritized centers at all. The pipeline is completely barren at that position. Kaapo Kakko is playing center tonight because the organization literally ran out of them.
-David Quinn was not a good hire and had no concept of making players better in the NHL. Nobody got better under him on either team he coached. He coaches a college game and was anathema to young players looking to develop past that point.

I look to when covid hit. Rangers were playing well, had just signed Kreider long term, Igor had debuted and Panarin was well on his way to a Hart trophy season. Mika looked every part the 1C on the KZB line. I believe the team had every intention of adding that summer. They self rented Fast who was a key piece of Panarin's line. And then poof, the world shuts down. I still remember Buch's game tying goal in Colorado.

After that a series of events you can't script, gets Alexis Lafreniere to the Rangers, Gorton and JD then inexplicably decided to pump the brakes and get younger. Hank and Staal get bought out, they let Fast walk (or more likely he jumped off a doomed sip). Leaves a huge leadership void of high priced outsiders (Trouba, Strome, Panarin) and the holdovers (Mika, Kreider, Buch) and a bunch of rowdy kids like Deangelo and Lemiuex. We all know what happened after that.

We had some great runs in 22 & 24 with this weirdly constructed team but the prospects we were able to acquire during the rebuild all now have a lot of playoff experience and look ready to take over. I agree that Drury does deserve a chance because I think, despite some moves that have backfired horribly, he does know this team and his players and the moves he has made on the fly has gotten them to 2 ECFs in 3 years. He has to deliver though. As much as we speculated today I think Kreider is ultimately safe. I think Trouba and Lindgren could be moved at any time. Mentioning Kreider was rightfully meant to rattle the players cages.

Have these last 15 pages today been actual trade smoke? Dont have tkme to read.

Also, vince: can confirm Glen Sather has serious interest in Keith Yandle dating back to 2010

Group therapy mostly. Also I would trade a conditional 7th for Yandle to be Micheletti's backup.

Do you guys think Kreider has an injury or are they being sensitive to a vet and don't want to embarrass him by calling him a healthy scratch?

He’s hurt. They can’t mislead the rest of the league. Would get a fine or something. If they didn’t want to embarrass a vet struggling, half the roster would be DTD with an injury lol.

Is Chariot a pile ?

Trouba for what out of Detroit ?

If Kreider goes does Laf move back to LW?

I’d see if the Sens would move Batherson

No one said Lindgren is safe. One of the other pundits mentioned him, but even if they didn't, his omission from the original tweet doesn't mean he is safe.

I liked Edge and it really sucks if posters here drove him away, but his last few posts were very pointedly personal about the Drury hiring and the ensuing house cleaning. Reading between the lines I assume someone close to him that he got his info from was affected and that's why he ultimately drove off into the sunset. Just a guess though, I know some guys here were pretty lousy about believing his sources.
They weren't just lousy about it. They were flat out dicks to the guy. Dumb fkrs on their best days

At least Drury isn’t asleep at the wheel. He’s been too discipline and patient with his moves. Too by the book on value and process. If he wants the shake up that’s been needed since he made the kistake of signing Zibanrjad, he’s gonna have to get desperate.

the long and short of it was he was feeding the board information about the team and potential happenings and there were folks that really went after him claiming he didn’t know anything (people are doing it in this thread as we speak)

And it got to the point that he left.

There could be some truth to his sources being fired by Drury and he had no info left to give, but it’s very clear that he did not appreciate talking shit about him.

As someone that had multiple 1-1 conversations with him, he was clearly a person with inside knowledge.

there is nothing to gain from making this stuff up. He was sharing because he was a fan of the team just like us and wanted to give folks a peek on the inside.
One more key part to this. Edge had been here from the very beginning of this site. The dude deserved respect just to his contributions to hfboards in the beginning state, never mind sticking his head out to drop some nuggets.

More importantly though. If Trouba gets traded how many alternate captains will we have? I long for the days of having 12 again.

This opinion is probably not going to be liked but if the Rangers are going to "blow up" the core they should look to trade Shesh. Doing a reset with a $11+M goalie isn't going to work. See if you can get a serviceable 1B without a long term contract back in the deal and run that goalie with Quick.

You won't be able to deal Zib, no one is taking on that contract. Unless Trouba wife's residency is over in December, I don't see him reporting to a team he is dealt to even if not on his NTC list.

Moving Kreider is probably the most realistic in terms of his play and contract. Between him, Zib and Trouba he's been by far the better of the 3.

I joined this board as a lurker because of @Edge insider tips. There was always a kernel of truth to them if they didnt all come to pass. I always remember him being the first to mention the Rangers interest in Trouba way back when he had his first holdout with Winnipeg.
