Proposal: Carey Price contract?

You're not married, are you? I can't imagine Carey Price telling his wife he is going to give up $2 million just so he can "remain a single team player", particularly when such a trade would not require the family to move and there's no chance he'd play a game for any team other than the Canadiens.
Also, he can't just take the signing bonus and disappear from the cap math. It doesn't matter that he's effectively retired already.

His total salary next season is 7.5m, of which 5.5m is signing bonus due this July 1st…considering it’s just 2m remaining, he should just retire after the signing bonus is paid and remain a single team player.
I was reading that his signing bonus will be paid only on sept 1 which is why its gonna hard to trade him this is from Renaud Lavoie witch i can't stand but if you do a search they say signing bonuses are paid on july 1 hummm.https://www.danslescoulisses.com/boni-a-la-signature-de-carey-price-echanger-son-contrat-sera-plus-difficile-quon-ne-le-croyait/

Of that 2M…how much do you think he gets? After agent and all other fees….his wife won’t care one shit

Signing bonuses are paid July 1st… not Sept 1st

Even if it were $200,000, I'm fairly certain Carey Price's wife would prefer the money to his being a single team player (as if anyone would consider Price to be anything other than a Canadien).

He’s made a lot of money, that final 1. whatever is irrelevant to his legacy as a Habs goalie…. At this point his best option is take the signing bonus, retire a hab during the offseason and then get a grand farewell sendoff ceremony before some home game next season.

No, his best option is to get all the money he is due, then get a ceremony during the 2026-27 season.

“When an NHL player retires with an active contract, their cap hit is removed from their current and former teams (if retained salary was involved). However, if the player was 35 or older when the contract was signed, the full cap hit remains, even after retirement. If a player is bought out, the buyout cap hit remains with the team, regardless of the player's status. ”

So take your own advice and google when Price's signing bonus will be.

Any teams wanting to reach cap floor? After July 1 Montreal may move Carey Price contract. Only next season left on his contract and caphit is 10.5 m. But actually costs to team is zero.

Because after we pay his bonus on July 1 his salary is only 2 million. Even better than that it's insured. So, be no financial costs to acquiring team.

What teams be interested in reaching cap floor next season? Something like Chicago did last year with Shea Weber contract.
Does insurance cover the entirety of the contract?

Again. There's zero dollars payable. After his bonus is paid the remainder is covered by insurance. They get a $10.5m cap hit and don't pay a dine. If they sign a UFA they need to pay them. If the team is a cap floor budget team the fact that they can cover the cap floor increase without spending a dime is the selling point
Insurance covers about 75%-80% of the full contract value.

im not saying in terms of they are still rebuilding, i was saying more so in the sense that they are not going to be an immediate cap ceiling team, so they can get to gain an asset and go from there.
Yea, seems you didn't understand Ducks aren't taking any bs salary, instead trying to compete. Please, try to clarify yet again something that was clear before in your next message. Typical montreal stuff.

The new season doesn't start until Oct 7th so it's still easy for a team that projects to be under or close to the cap floor to work out a deal for Price well in advance but doesn't gets finalized until Sept 2nd. Sounds like there might be a few teams in that situation.

We also saw last year, when teams started to sell off assets near the TDL they became at risk of being under the floor so another opportunity can emerge around that time of year. Shea Weber's contract was moved in March and saw Utah score a 5th for him

So we might not need to pay anything to move it. I bet HUGO are assessing possibilities and will look for an opportunity if it arises

No there isn't a few teams in that situation. Most teams once they sign their RFAs will over the floor, and the few that aren't are expected to be spenders on July 1.

22/32 team are already over the floor. Of the remaining 10... 4 more would reach the floor by doing no more than filling out their roster with league min. contracts (and this is just to the min. 20-man roster)... so that leaves 6...
TEAMAMOUNT UNDER

ROSTER SIZE /23 AND
MIN. SALARY TO REACH

KEY UFAs/RFAsNOTES
Flames2.9m18 [$1,550,000]RFAs: Frost, Zary, Bahl
UFAs: None
Hurricanes4.4m19 [$775,000]RFAs: None
UFAs: Orlov, Burns
Contender with room to spend
Blackhawks6.1m20 [$0]RFAs: Kurashev
UFAs: Donato, Martinez
were bigger spenders last summer
Ducks13.8m16 [$3,100,000]RFAs: McTavish, Dostal, Hellesonsaid they no longer will be pinching pennies
Blue Jackets16.4m17 [$2,325,000]RFAs: Voronkov, Tatarsov
UFAs: Provorov, Fabbro
have spent the last couple years, no reason to think they won't this summer
Sharks17m17 [$2,325,000]RFAs: None
UFAs: Georgiev
Last summer they added Toffoli and Wennberg, I suspect this summer they spend a little on defense.

So there is 1 team, that might have issues and that still seems highly unlikely.

Re: the Weber deal... you're ignoring that Utah gave up a decent prospect and a young RFA defenseman as well, so no, Utah didn't "score" anything
