It'd be one thing if we were going through a phase like Vancouver is going through right now. Or if they were starting over like in 14/15 which we all knew would be a lame-duck season.
The problem is, this is now year 9 of rebuilding since the last playoff appearance and year 4 under the current coaching/gm staff. This shouldn't be happening at all. For Gods sake, the f***ing Devils and Avalanche are playing way better than we are and they both sucked last season. Avalanche didn't even get a high pick last year.
There's no excuse for this, they should be showing signs of improvement and they are regressing hard.

Would the Canes be willing and able to offer him the kind of money needed to bring him in?

I don't see progress from a lot of players season after season. We need new voice.

I mean... I love Ron Francis and I truly believe he has the right vision, but at some point you have to ask how much rope he gets simply for being Ron Francis.

I'll coach them (I'm not a coach) but if money is the issue they amount they'd save paying me would get similar results. At a fraction of the price.

What does RF have to do with player development and day-to-day performance though? IDK. We've seen what most of these players are capable of, and it's pretty good. I'm not inclined to pin it on the guy who drafted most of them. I think it's just gone stale and a coaching change is needed.

the sophomore slump for Aho and Lee Stempniak's presumed death has robbed this team of about 50% of its scoring punch and it couldn't afford to lose any at all

I think francis has put this team in a place to make the playoffs, it comes down to players preforming. If aho has 3 goals this year, which he should have, this season is in a different direction.

Francis runs the entire organization from draft to league assignment to overseeing the Checkers to hiring and overseeing the entire coaching staff... that’s more power than anyone else in the organization has over the product we’re seeing right now.

The intriguing thing about a coaching change, is the talent might be there. Justin Faulk used to be a really good dman. Now he struggles at #3. Maybe Faulk sucks now, or maybe it's just another version of Eric Staal, where some goofy ass system that puts up pretty numbers with terrible results turned an all-star into garbage.

francis can't shoot the puck, pass the puck, or defend the puck.
You can say peters has to go with the way players are performing but I don't see anything with Francis' that says he should go. We've had the best talent/prospect pool we've had in a longggg long time.
We're in a rut of players underperforming right now in a way nobody saw coming.

Checkers looks good by the way. Maybe it's Peters, maybe the players. RF has done good job. Not great but not that bad.
Before the season started everyone was touting Ronnie as a god... I know with hindsite it’s easy to criticize moves(not saying you are) but I’m still thinking he’s built a good team...it needs a new voice... lots of teams on the cusp have been ignited by a change... our d is still great, forwards young and fast, Darling isn’t playing horrible and hasn’t been our problem... obviously my opinion but I’m still happy with the moves Ronnie is making... I’m not however happy with how the team is being coached
