Lindberg for Murphy?

AV won't play Clendening, who I think is just as good, if not better (based on this season, definitely better).

Why would he play Murphy at that point? Terrible asset management when we can keep Lindberg for forward depth.

Could be like the Black Aces in 1994.

How's his puck moving skills in general?

Michel Therrien has been complaining about our 3RD's puck moving skills (which aren't even bad), so I could see Bergevin potentially wanting to trade for Murphy.

No idea what we'd trade for him though. Andrighetto maybe? He's already passed through waivers and hasn't looked amazing at the NHL level. (He tears up the AHL like Murphy though)

Eh, I guess it could make sense.

I would do it for Guetto. Kid has potential, just not in Montreal IMO.

Yeah, I was a supporter of Murphy for the longest time... but even I have to admit that he's worthless. We'd probably get something like a 7th or an equally struggling 'prospect' in return.

We'll have Redmond back who can be a RH puck mover on the third pairing.

Oilers are pretty desperate for a PP QB. And a right-hander that can move out of the zone. How much would it take?

Oscar Lindberg straight up.

Been posting on the Rangers board about Murphy being available for a while now.

Nice to see it leaked publicly.

Meh, if it wasn't for his draft position I don't think anybody would care about him at all by this point

I think Murphy is a lot more talented than people are giving him credit for. But -- and this happens to quite many PMDs out there -- he has been stuck at a place where he has been put to focus on playing defense better, and after a while you end up with someone that is doing nothing well enough. Bad development. My Rangers did the same thing to Bobby Sanguinetti that ended up going from NY to Carolina for nothing. From the day NYR drafted Sangs there was only talk about one thing, him learning to play defense, him learning to play defense, him learning to play defense. Like a broken record.

Thing is, the NHL is and have always been full of good offensive minded Ds who are crappy defensively. You need to afford these type of kids to hit the ice and play to their strength, and pick up defense a long the way. Doing well offensively isn't easy at all for a PMD, and you can't like tell them to focus more on something else than offense for a number of years.

With that said, whatever damage has been done has been done. I've checked him out on a regular basis here and there, and I don't see someone looking like he is having a good time enjoying the game, no confidence etc. But who knows, I wouldn't mind NYR taking a shot at him.

Remember when Steve Spott kept using Ryan Murphy over Morgan Rielly for team Canada at the WJC... That pretty much lost us the tourney lol

I'd consider Holland and Corrado for Murray and a pick probably; depending on the pick...

Leafs have Carrick, but I think having someone similar to him nipping at his ice time may do him good.

Holland and Corrado need some opportunities elsewhere. Leivo won't be moved unless we get a nice pick out him. He has a future here, he just needs ice time (which he'll probably get soon enough).

If Bill Peters doesn't like him, I can't see Babcock liking him. We need to upgrade on Hunwick/Polak but I am not sure Murphy is the kind of bottom pairing D you want.
As a Lethbridge resident I still find it very strange that 2 former University of Lethbridge Pronghorn coaches are head coaches in the NHL, not bad for a Canadian University that really only had success in one year.
