Don’t get it at all for Colorado, sure Rantanen could walk but the downgrade from him to Necas is massive
Why not just go for it?
Why not just go for it?
I think he can if the 2nd and 3rd pieces are better.
this is a good choice to acquire two good players at 24 and 26 years of age. paying rants 14 is a bad idea when you have two other stars to payYou don’t extend a window by overpaying a guy like Rantanen in his 30’s either. Phenomenal value at $9m. At $14 it’s questionable.
Wonder how mackinnon feels. Imagine taking less than market value while being a top 3 player in the league, and they still end up trading your best forward teammate due to cap reasons.
Yeah, crazy that the 2nd isn't at least conditional on making the ECF or something. The amazing part (or weird) is that Carolina kept all their 1st round picks
It reminds just too much of a Rantanen for Necas trade and they are completely different caliber players
& the excuse sounds awfully lot like the ones in Hall for Larsson trade
Just for my own curiosity where does the 1.26 figure come from? I thought it would be closer to 1/2 x 33/82 x 6 but I was just guessing.
I’d like to know how it’s actually calculated. Do I have the games remaining wrong?
Mack is locked in. So Avs know that number. Makar is at $9 mill for 2 more seasons after this. Then it will jump big.this is a good choice to acquire two good players at 24 and 26 years of age. paying rants 14 is a bad idea when you have two other stars to pay
I actually don't think there's a reasonable number that Necas signs for where I flip and like it for the Avs.Mack is locked in. So Avs know that number. Makar is at $9 mill for 2 more seasons after this. Then it will jump big.
Will see maybe as early as July if Necas extends what cap savings the Avs get.

Necas at $9M and Rantanen at $14M, I'm pretty sure I'd still rather pay the extra $5M. Maybe Necas at $7M gets me thinking, but I think that's probably way too low.
Man, if they balk at $12M-$13M for Rantanen but then give Necas ~$10M, that's going to be pretty funny.”
My understanding is that Rantanen was willing to take less than what a July 1 market number looked like to stay in Colorado, but even so, his number was not in the same realm as where the Avs were.
Meaning, I don’t think Rantanen was stuck at $14 million a year. He would have taken less to stay in Denver. But I would imagine even being around the $12.6 million MacKinnon average annual value was seen as too much by the Avs.”

if drai is at $14m and has the same agent as rantanen i can't imagine rantanen would only get $12m. i think rantanen is probably getting $13.5m ishMan, if they balk at $12M-$13M for Rantanen but then give Necas ~$10M, that's going to be pretty funny.
I was going by the article posted above me "being around the $12.6M MacKinnon AAV..."if drai is at $14m and has the same agent as rantanen i can't imagine rantanen would only get $12m. i think rantanen is probably getting $13.5m ish

Won't happen though. I think 13 is the lowest it could possibly turn out. We'll all have the pitchforks out if he goes for less than 12.5 (though even then, it would cripple us)I was going by the article posted above me "being around the $12.6M MacKinnon AAV..."
Even still, my starting point was $14M and I didn't like the math, so anything below that sure doesn't help.Won't happen though. I think 13 is the lowest it could possibly turn out. We'll all have the pitchforks out if he goes for less than 12.5 (though even then, it would cripple us)
Rock and a hard place situation. We couldn't win.Even still, my starting point was $14M and I didn't like the math, so anything below that sure doesn't help.
Hate this trade for both the Canes and Aves.
problem is you dont have the extra 5I actually don't think there's a reasonable number that Necas signs for where I flip and like it for the Avs.

Already have a Cup and they’re trying to extend their window. Will it work? We’ll see but I get what they’re trying to do.Don’t get it at all for Colorado, sure Rantanen could walk but the downgrade from him to Necas is massive
